We have a host of surprises coming our way this Auto Expo. Let’s check out what TVS has in store for us

Auto Expo 2018 - Expected TVS Lineup

With Auto Expo 2018 coming up, TVS has some exciting products lined up for launches. This includes a scooter, a motorcycle and electric scooters. Let’s look at the expected range of TVS products at the 2018 Auto Expo.

TVS Apache RTR 160

The Apache RTR 160 has always proven to be a strong competition for the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and with the launch of the Pulsar NS 160, it was only obvious that a more aggressive version of the RTR 160 had to be brought in.

From the recent spy pictures that we have been coming across, the Apache RTR 160 doesn’t fail to impress us. The headlight, instrument console, bodywork, exhaust can and the LED tail lamp are all similar to the RTR 200. The RTR 160 will also take over the split double cradle frame and suspension from the RTR 200. The only change noticeable from the pictures is the new centre panel, different alloy wheels and the single piece seat. Also, the riding posture is much more commuter-ish as it gets a flat handlebar instead of the clip-on unit seen on the Apache RTR 200. The existing RTR 160 comes with a 159.7cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 15.4PS of power and 13.1Nm of torque. We expect the new engine to be reworked for better refinement and performance.

The current version of the Apache RTR 160 retails for Rs 77,865 (ex-showroom Delhi) and we expect the the new RTR 160 to be priced are Rs 80,000 to 85,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo will be a pre-production motorcycle and it is expected that the 2018 Apache RTR 160 will be launched by mid-2018.

TVS Graphite Scooter

Another exciting product we have been coming across in spy pics is the TVS Graphite. First seen as a concept model at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new TVS scooter is all set to make its presence felt at the expo this year.

Expect the new scooter to showcase some bold yet sporty design elements, with the front apron being clearly inspired by the Honda offerings - Dio and Grazia. Based on the series of images and videos that have cluttered the internet, the new 125cc scooter will feature a headlamp mounted on the body, placed above the mudguard, while the indicators are placed on the panel covering the handlebar.

There is also an all-digital instrument cluster, an external fuel filler cap, new 12-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps and a chunky exhaust muffler. The scooter will also feature a petal-type disc brake up front, probably an optional feature. The rear section also seems to remind us of the Honda Dio, with the sharp, swept-back look and floating split grab rails.

As is the norm with TVS scooters, the suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. TVS has confirmed that it wouldn’t be launching any new product at the 2018 Expo. We expect TVS to launch the new scooter by the festive season and price it around Rs 60,000 to 65,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

TVS Electric Scooters

TVS is also expected to showcase a lineup of its electric scooter offerings. It has been working on electric scooters for quite some time now and we had also come across an image of a test scooter disguised as the TVS Jupiter

TVS is expected to launch the electric range under its current offering of petrol scooters, with a slight premium of course. There is no clear information on the range, charge time or the cost the electric offerings, but it is sure to create quite a stir in this day and age, where the electric scooter market is still at a nascent stage.
