TVS XL100 Overview
TVS has trademarked two names: TVS XL EV and TVS E-XL and these could be used for the electric version model of the TVS XL 100. Check out the details here.
The XL100 is the only petrol-powered moped in India. It is also the cheapest petrol-powered two-wheeler in India right now. It is really popular among its buyers because it's not only great for carrying heavy loads, but is also nimble, fuel-efficient, and tough.
TVS XL100 Key Highlights

The Heavy Duty i-Touchstart and i-Touchstart Win Edition are priced at Rs 56,935 and Rs 59,437, respectively. The top-end one, Comfort i-Touchstart, is Rs 59,695 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Features: The XL100 is a well-equipped moped in terms of features. It gets a halogen headlight, bulb indicators, and an analogue instrument cluster. In select variants, it also has a silent starter, an engine kill switch, and USB charging port. TVS even added a low-fuel indicator and an engine-check light for extra convenience.
Engine: The XL100 is powered by a single-cylinder, 99.7cc, air-cooled engine, producing 4.3PS and 6.5Nm. It's got an automatic gearbox.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The TVS XL 100 gets a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers suspension setup. The Heavy Duty variant has sturdier shock absorbers for carrying heavier stuff, while the Comfort ones have softer suspensions for a smoother ride. Both Comfort and Heavy Duty have 110mm drum brakes at the front and back with CBS. The Comfort one with electric start weighs 88kg, and the Heavy Duty with electric start and Special Edition weigh 89kg, both kerb.
Rivals: The TVS XL100 is the only petrol-powered moped you can buy, so it doesn't have a direct rival. But it does compete with other low-cost bikes like the TVS Sport, Honda Shine 100 and Hero Splendor Plus. An electric alternative would be the Kinetic Green e-Luna. It was launched recently, and you can read all about it here.
Variants: The XL100 is available in four Heavy-Duty and two Comfort variants with basic paint schemes. The Comfort iTouchstart and Win Edition both get chromed silencers and crash guards with the latter coming in two exclusive colours (Delight Blue/Brown). Both Comfort iTouchstart and Heavy-Duty iTouchstart variants also get Cool Mint Blue and Mineral Purple as exclusive colours, respectively. Key aspects of the Comfort variant include a headlight fairing and a non-removable single-piece seat. Whereas, the Heavy Duty variant, as the name suggests, gets a pair of beefier rear shock absorbers, along with a split seat setup with a removable pillion seat.

TVS XL100 Expert Review
The TVS XL100 has been around for more than 40 years and is known for being tough, affordable, and long-lasting. Even though it has received some small updates, the basic design hasn't changed.
Design
The TVS XL 100 has a simple and practical design. It has a tall handlebar, a small floorboard, and you can choose to have a single-piece seat or a removable back seat for carrying stuff. What really makes it stand out is its strong build quality.
Engine, Mileage And Performance
The TVS XL 100 has a 99.7cc single-cylinder engine producing 4.4PS and 6.5Nm. It's torquey enough for city commuting, carrying stuff and for general everyday usage.
Handling And Ride Quality
The TVS XL 100 is light, weighing only 86-89kg, depending on the version, which means it should be easy to manage in busy traffic conditions. But despite being lightweight, it has a load carrying capacity of 130kg. Thanks to the telescopic fork and twin shock absorber suspension setup, it should be able to deal with bumpy roads quite well.
Comfort
The TVS XL 100 is really comfortable. It has a soft seat and enough space for your legs, making it a comfortable moped. The handlebar and footpegs are also positioned to provide a comfy riding position.
Features
The XL100 keeps things simple with its features. It has a basic speedometer and odometer, and interestingly, no fuel gauge. But depending on the variant it does have a silent start system, an engine kill switch, and a USB charger for your phone.
Should You Buy The TVS XL100
The XL100 is the cheapest petrol-powered two-wheeler in India, priced from Rs 44,999 to Rs 59,695 (both ex-showroom Delhi). It's a great pick for those who want a sturdy and fuel-efficient moped, especially if you need to carry heavy loads.
