A couple of months ago, Tork launched a new variant of the Tork Kratos R, called 'Urban'. It came with a lower 70kmph top speed, City riding mode, and a 100km claimed range, among other changes. It is priced at Rs 1,67,499, which is Rs 20,000 more affordable than the Tork Kratos R.
Tork Kratos R Key Highlights
Price: The Tork Kratos R is priced at Rs 1,87,499 (Rs 1,49,999 till 31 March), whereas the Urban trim retails at Rs 1,67,499 (both ex-showroom Pune including FAME 2 subsidy).
Design: The Tork Kratos’ design is very similar to what one would expect from a traditional ICE motorcycle. It features an LED headlight flanked by LED DRLs, a muscular ‘tank’ that is the storage box, and big tank shrouds, extending all the way to the belly.
Features: The Tork Kratos is loaded to the gills with features. multiple riding modes, including a reverse assist, to regenerative braking, USB charging, storage box, digital instrument console with connectivity features. Tork also has a dedicated mobile app that will allow for features like geo fencing, ride telemetry, charging status and even a charging station location. The Urban trim of the R variant comes with City riding mode. It also gets other features as the regular R version including Eco, Sports riding modes, reverse mode, fast charging, in-app navigation, vehicle locator, anti-theft system, geofencing, charging point location, OTA updates, ride analytics, track mode analytics, and guide me home lights. These features will be unlocked for 30 days, post which buyers will have to shell out Rs 20,000 within six months of purchase to keep them permanent. With this option, it costs the same as the regular Kratos R variant.
Motor: The Tork Kratos uses an Axial Flux motor built in-house. This motor is capable of achieving a peak output of 9kW and 38Nm. This motor is paired with a 4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has a claimed range of 120km, and can charge up to 80 percent within an hour using the fast charger. The Urban trim gets a 70km claimed top speed, along with a 100km claimed range. The Tork Kratos uses a split trellis frame which is suspended onto a telescopic fork and a monoshock. It boasts of a ground clearance of 165mm and tips the scales at 140kg.
Rivals: The Tork Kratos rivals include the Revolt RV400, Oben Rorr and Hop Oxo. However, at a similar price you can also opt for the Ather 450X.
