Another Update Incoming For The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V highlights

TVS providing annual updates to its highly successful models is not a new thing. The Apache RTR 160 4V received not one but two updates last year and has been left untouched ever since. So, it was about time for TVS to improve its popular sporty commuter motorcycle yet again and we have managed to snag a couple of shots of the incoming updated Apache.

Visually, this stealth black test mule had no panel changes or tweaks to the design. The cylinder head was spotted in a typical TVS sporty red shade but that’s also not new.

The real magic seems to have been happening with the breathability of the 159cc single-cylinder motor. Our spotter was told that the intake was being revised, which could mean one of two things: either performance enhancement or better all-round rideability. The former isn’t likely to happen as the motor is already making a class-leading 17.55PS and 14.73Nm.

Hence, if TVS is chasing better all-round rideability, it would be quite welcomed. Currently, the motor’s low-end performance isn’t as thrilling as its mid and top-end grunt, and it could do with a little more oomph at lower revs.

The exhaust spotted on the bike was a prototype unit. The final one is expected to look more or less the same as it currently does with modified internal elements for improved breathability as well as to meet current emissions norms.

Considering this is somewhat of a mild update, we wouldn’t be surprised if TVS silently rolled it out to the buyers in the next few months. Currently, prices for the RTR 160 4V start from Rs 1.22 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 1.28 lakh for the Special Edition (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). So, perhaps a nominal price hike could be in store for the updates.
