Expert's Opinion on iQube
Overview
A Fun, Family-Oriented, Eco-Friendly Commuter
- The TVS iQube is a family-oriented electric scooter which has a simple, minimalistic design language, quite a bit of features and a decent range
- The base variant is available in two battery pack variants: 2.2kWh and 3.4kWh
Design
Simple Yet Elegant
- The scooter has a very simple and elegant design language
- The slim LED headlight with integrated indicators and the conventional family scooter design make it appealing to a wide range of audience
- The design is mundane which does not allow the scooter to stand out
- Switch gear quality could have been better
Performance & Mileage
Surprising Good
- The scooter is deceivingly quick when compared to its petrol-powered counterparts
- Even the Eco mode is quite useable despite being capped at a lower top speed
- The Power mode is very responsive and propels the scooter to a claimed top-speed of 78kmph
- Regen works well too, and allows the scooter to slow down without needing to use the brakes
- The claimed range of 75km on a full charge should be enough for most people
- Regen only activates once the range drops down to 65km
- Top speed could have been better
Handling
Heavy Yet Agile
- The battery pack’s weight is well-distributed which makes the scooter light on its feet and quite agile
- The disc brake up front and a drum at the rear offer good braking performance, better than its ICE counterparts
- The scooter is on the heavier side which means that moving in and around the parking lot is a bit cumbersome
Ride Quality
Best Of Both Worlds
- The suspension does a decent job of absorbing bumps and undulations
- While the rear suspension is a bit firm, the ride quality gets better with a pillion
- The rear shock absorbers are set on the firmer side and may toss you off the seat on sharper bumps
Comfort & Storage
More Than You Think
- The 770mm tall seat is accessible for most average-sized riders
- It is long, wide and well-padded for a single rider as well as a pillion
- The floorboard & underseat storage facility are commendable, and enough for most
- Misses out on a four-in-one combi-lock system to remotely access the seat
- Does not get an apron-mounted phone holder
- USB charging port is located underneath the seat
Features
A Long List
- The TFT display is very crisp and offers a lot of useful information at a single glance
- Ride modes work well and alter the power and range output
- Supports smartphone connectivity which shows ride telemetry data & turn-by-turn navigation
- Misses out on full Google Maps navigation which would have been a useful feature
Verdict
Should you buy the TVS iQube?
- The TVS iQube is a great family-oriented electric scooter which does a lot of things well
- With tons of features, great practicality options, and decent performance and handling characteristics, it is a scooter you should definitely consider if you are in the market for one
Battery & Charging
Good enough
- The 2.2kWh battery pack can be charged from 0-80% with the help of a portable charger
- Does not get a fast charging facility
Pros and Cons of iQube
Likes
- Plenty of usable power right from the beginning and peaks out at 80kmph
- Features Q-park, which offers forward and backward motion assistance
- Well-balanced suspension setup socks in bumps really well
Dislikes
- Annoying start-up tune, which sounds like a certain water purifier
- The raised floorboard means your legs could foul with the handlebar while making tight U-turns
Expert's Conclusion
The iQube S makes for a reliable, easy-going and friendly electric scooter at a reasonably accessible price point.
