Expert's Opinion on Sport
- The TVS Sport is a no-nonsense commuter bike
- It is the second most affordable commuter bike in India, starting at Rs 59,881 (ex-showroom Delhi)
- It is available in 2 variants: ELS and ES
- The TVS Sport features a simple and sleek commuter bike design
- The ES variant comes in four solid base colour options
- The ELS variant is available in four colour schemes with graphics/stickers
- The overall design of the bike is pretty basic and doesn’t stand out
- The ELS variant with graphics/stickers is a whopping Rs 11,502 more expensive than the ES which has no graphics
- The 110cc engine of the Sport produces 8.2PS and 8.7Nm, which is sufficient for daily commutes
- The engine has enough grunt to make quick overtakes on the city streets
- Same engine in the Star City Plus gave a real-world mileage of 83.09kmpl in the city and 66.34kmpl on the highway
- The engine starts feeling vibey after 45kmph. Buzz on the handlebar, footpeg and tank can be felt after 60kmph
- The gear shifts aren’t smooth and the gears don’t slot in properly in the first attempt
- The TVS Sport handles very well at regular speeds
- It is very agile and easy to ride through traffic, thanks to the light 112kg kerb weight
- With a 175mm ground clearance, it can easily ride through bumpy roads and on big speed breakers
- You can’t lean it much into the corners because of the narrow tyres
- The telescopic fork and the 5-step preload-adjustable twin rear shocks absorb bumps and potholes effectively
- The TVS Sport is calm and stable at city speeds
- But, it doesn’t feel very planted at higher speeds on the highway
- TVS could’ve offered 18-inch alloys which would have suited the bike and offered better ride quality than the existing 17-inch units
- The long single-piece seat is well padded and spacious
- The TVS Sport provides a comfortable and upright riding posture
- The single-piece grab rail adds to the pillion comfort
- The TVS Sport gets both a kick and an electric starter as standard
- Comes with a 10-litre fuel tank, which combined with its impressive mileage would easily cover more than 650km
- It also has an LED position lamp/DRL (daytime running light)
- Features an analogue instrument console with very basic information on display
- The bike has a halogen headlight and tail light with bulb-type indicators
- The TVS Sport may not be very impressive in terms of performance, but it can be a great commuter bike
- It can be a good option if you want a reliable, comfortable and fuel-efficient bike for daily commutes
- We suggest going for the cheaper ES variant, as the difference is just the addition of graphics/stickers
- Paying Rs 11,502, just for the graphics does not make any sense
Pros and Cons of Sport
- Engine is efficient, Even the base variant gets an electric starter, Is competitively priced
- No front disc brake even as an option, Could have gotten better tyres
The TVS Sport ticks all the right boxes for an affordable, reasonably feature-packed 110cc commuter. The base variant makes a lot of sense because it gets all the features as the top-end variant minus the fancy graphics. So if you’re willing to live without the graphics, the base variant makes excellent sense. Moreover, it costs almost the same as the Hero HF100, which not only gets a smaller engine but also lacks an electric starter.
