Months after we broke the news of a new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V being under development, the Hosur-based bikemaker has launched the motorcycle in India.
The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition has been priced at Rs 1,30,090 (ex-showroom Delhi) which is exactly the same as the stealthy special edition model launched last year. At this price, the bike takes on the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar N160, Hero Xtreme 160R and the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-FI.

The highlight of the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition is the new ‘bullpup’ exhaust which has reduced the weight of the bike by 1kg. TVS has also introduced a new Pearl White colour scheme this time that comes with a black-coloured alloy at the front and a red one at the rear.
The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V otherwise, is exactly the same as the previous model. So, it continues with the 159.7cc air-/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that pushes out 17.55PS at 9250rpm and 14.73PS at 7250rpm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and unfortunately, this time too, with no slipper clutch that the Apache RTR 165 RP came with.

The SmartXonnect-equipped LCD instrument console with a gear-position indicator and three ride modes is unchanged. And so is the suspension and braking setup.
The bullpup exhaust is currently limited to the Special Edition variant only, however, we expect this update to come to the standard variants next year. Agreed, this is not a big upgrade for TVS’ 160cc hooligan, but with the competition yet to pose a threat to this RTR, perhaps the company is playing it safe. That said, check out how the Bajaj Pulsar N160 comes close to the Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition in this story.
