About Renault
History
Founded by Louis Renault and his brothers, Renault is a French automaker established in 1898.
Renault came to India in 2005, but it wasn’t until 2007 that it released its first product; the Renault Logan. In 2010, the Renault-Nissan alliance set up a manufacturing facility in Chennai, which was completed in a record 21 months, and is capable of producing 400,000 vehicles annually. Renault India is known for its competitive pricing with the launch of the Renault Kwid, which quickly became one of India’s best-selling cars upon its release.
Renault also has a rich motorsport heritage - not only is it one of the few brands to compete in Formula 1, it’s also one of the most decorated ones, winning two constructors' and drivers' championships, while as an engine manufacturer it has 12 constructors' and 11 drivers' championships.
Product portfolio
Hatchback: Renault launched the Kwid in 2015 and it took the market by a storm. It was the first SUV-styled entry-level hatchback in the Indian market.
Sub-compact SUV: Renault offers the Kiger sub-compactSUV in India. It finds itself in a very competitive market as it fights out the likes of Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet and even the Tata Punch micro SUV.
Compact SUV: Renault introduced the compact SUV segment with the launch of the Renault Duster in 2012 in the country.
People mover: Renault launched its sub-4m crossover MPV, the Triber, in 2019, targeting people looking for a versatile family car with modular seating option. The Triber is a very compelling package for people wanting a budget-friendly seven seater.
Greatest Hits:
Renault’s top products in India have been:
Renault Duster: A rugged, value packed offering with a high ground clearance, powerful engine options and good ride quality.
Renault Kwid: A budget friendly, feature loaded hatchback that is perfectly suited for the Indian roads.
Renault Triber: A sub-compact seven-seater with very aggressive pricing.
Future Plans:
With manufacturers like Tata and Mahindra already in the EV market, Renault too plans on going electric. The EV sector of the Renault portfolio will be commenced likely by a locally made EV which is most likely to be an electric version of the Kwid. Renault also plans to relive the glory it enjoyed with the Duster and will launch a new-gen model in the near future.

It would be unfair to give a verdict here as Datsun GO Plus has been discontinued and is not available for sale in the market. On the other hand, Renault’s Triber packs in solid value, offering a lot of cars for not much money. It could do with some more features, and a stronger engine for road trips but at least we now have an AMT for easier city commuting. For a better understanding of compatibility and driving comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership.

The Kiger’s strength clearly lies in its tempting price tag. The key advantages of the Kiger are its compact size, easy-to-drive nature, and personal car appeal. If you are looking for a small family car, the Kiger offers brilliant space, versatility, and functionality but those who want the latest wow features such as the all-important sunroof and cruise control won’t warm up to the Kiger easily. Moreover, for a better understanding of compatibility and driving comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
