The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is a 160cc bike based on the NS200 platform, the bike comes with a smaller engine but retains a lot of the same design and features as the NS200.
Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Key Highlights
Price: The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 costs Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Design: The Pulsar NS160 shares the same design as the NS200, the same aggressive styling with the muscular fuel tank, split seat setup and the sharp halogen headlamp that gives the bike an overall sporty streetfighter look. The bike also comes with a tyre hugger in the rear that comes quite handy during the monsoon season keeping muck and splashes away without much trouble.
Features: The Pulsar NS160 now features a new negative LCD console. The fully digital display now gets an all-new layout and gets Bluetooth connectivity with call and SMS alerts, distance to empty, real-time and average mileage and even turn-by-turn navigation. There’s now also an additional switch on the left switchgear to navigate through the console. Even the halogen headlamp has made way for an LED one on the 2024 Pulsar NS160.
Engine: The Pulsar NS160 comes with a 160.3cc single-cylinder air and oil-cooled engine, with a 5-speed transmission and produces 17.2PS at 9000rpm and 14.6Nm at 7250rpm.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The NS160 is built on a perimeter frame, and gets a 33mm inverted fork at front and a preload-adjustable Nitrox monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 300mm disc at front and 230mm disc at the rear with Grimeca callipers and dual channel ABS as standard. The bike gets 17-inch alloys wrapped in 100/80-section front and 130/70 section MRF Nylogrip Zappers. It comes with a kerb weight of 151 kg.
Rivals: The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 rivals the Suzuki Gixxer, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi V4, the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar N160 in the 150-160cc naked segment.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Pros and Cons
Pulsar NS160 Advantages
It packs a pretty powerful engine, Shares the capable perimeter frame with larger Pulsars, Stopping power is pretty good.
Pulsar NS160 Disadvantages
Engine refinement could have been better, It isn’t feature-rich like its segment rivals, It is the heaviest 160cc motorcycle.
Pulsar NS160 Expert's Conclusion
While the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 BS6 might not have many tangible features to justify the price hike due to BS6 norms, it more than makes up for it with raw performance. In fact, it is the most powerful motorcycle in its segment, making it ideal for enthusiasts who prioritise performance over anything else.
Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Expert Review
The Bajaj NS series was an iconic motorcycle lineup and when the series was first launched with the NS200, it showcased Bajaj Auto’s impressive performance and engineering capabilities. The NS160 is the NS200’s smaller sibling. Let’s find out whether it’s worthy of the NS badge:
Design
The NS160 retains the same design as the NS200, including the sharp and muscular fuel tank, beefy side section thanks to the exposed perimeter frame, sleek tail portion with split seat setup. The addition of the inverted fork as part of the 2023 update has made the bike look more muscular. That said, it’s still hard to differentiate it from the NS200 if it weren’t for the stickers.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The NS160 is powered by a potent 160.3cc air and oiled cooled single cylinder engine that’s linked to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces 17.2PS at 9000rpm and 14.6Nm at 7250rpm. It is happy to be revved hard, and the power delivery is slightly higher between 5500rpm to 9000rpm.
Handling & Ride Quality
![](https://media.zigcdn.com/media/upcomingmodel/2023/Oct/_3el4867.jpg?tr=w-930)
With the inverted fork and monoshock, the suspension tuning is the same as the Pulsar NS200. But with less weight, the suspension feels a bit firm and as a consequence, the rear tends to toss the rider when ridden over small but sharp bumps. The bike now feels a lot more planted when riding in the city as the wider tyres have brought it a lot more stability. However, the fatter tyres has made the bike slightly less nimble, but overall this isn’t a deal breaker.
Comfort
![](https://media.zigcdn.com/media/upcomingmodel/2023/Oct/_3el4513.jpg?tr=w-930)
The riding posture is a bit to the sporty side but it's not too committed thanks to the raised clipons so riders won’t have to worry about discomfort. The slightly rear-set footpegs could’ve been positioned a bit lower as the current layout makes the lower body feel a little cramped. The seat cushioning is good enough to ensure the rider is comfortable in both city commutes and on long rides. It’s important to note that the overall ride quality might be a bit firm, especially on rough roads because of the rear suspension tuning, as mentioned earlier.
Features
![](https://media.zigcdn.com/media/upcomingmodel/2023/Oct/_3el4544.jpg?tr=w-930)
Features wise, the Pulsar NS160’s semi-digital instrument cluster gets added bits like real time mileage and distance to empty readout along with a gear position indicator. Despite these, it still isn’t on par with its modern rivals. Bajaj should’ve included smartphone connectivity with at least turn-by-turn navigation in the NS160.
Should you buy the Bajaj Pulsar NS160?
Overall, the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is a mixed bag, and the updates have improved certain aspects at the cost of others. But justifying the NS160 as a choice is hard considering the fact that its own sibling, the Pulsar N160 does everything the NS160 does but in a nicer way, not to mention offer more features.
