KTM 200 Duke Bike Latest Updates

KTM has launched the updated 200 Duke with an LED headlight. Check out the launch story here. The 200 Duke was the first KTM bike to be launched in India. It revolutionised the idea of performance naked motorcycles at an accessible price point.

KTM 200 Duke Engine

KTM Duke 200 is powered by an OBD-2 compliant, single-cylinder, 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine, which produces 25PS and 19.3Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is built on a tubular split-trellis frame, which is suspended on a 43mm front USD fork and 10-step-preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 300mm disc up front and a 230mm rear disc brake. It comes with dual-channel ABS as a standard feature. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloys, which come wrapped in 110-section (front) and 150mm (rear) tubeless MRF tyres. The Duke 200 has a 13.4-litre fuel tank and weighs 159kg (kerb). The seat on this bike is 822mm high, with the ground clearance being 155mm.

KTM 200 Duke Variants

The KTM 200 Duke is available in just one variant, with it coming in two colours (Electronic Orange & Dark Silver Metallic).

KTM 200 Duke Design

The KTM 200 Duke gets a sharp look, which is the same as 250 Duke. To differentiate between them, KTM has given both motorcycles different liveries. Also the 200 Duke continues to use an underbelly exhaust unlike the 390 (with side mounted exhaust). The new KTM bike has the ‘Duke’ branding across its fuel tank, with the small 200 stickering beneath it.

Key Features of KTM 200 Duke

The 200 Duke continues to come with a halogen headlamp but gets fang-type LED DRLs, along with LED turn signals and an LED tail lamp. The bike also has a fully digital instrument console, being the same as before, which shows speed, engine RPM, fuel level, real-time mileage, average fuel consumption and average speed, along with a clock. Unlike its older iteration, the Duke 200 now comes with dual-channel ABS. The 2023 KTM 200 Duke, though, will have an LED headlight, similar to the one on the KTM 250 Duke and the 390 Duke.

KTM 200 Duke Competitors

The KTM 200 Duke goes up against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. The Honda Hornet 2.0, however, is just a rung lower and would not be considered as its direct rival. Although not as direct rivals, the Yamaha MT-15, Yamaha FZ 25 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250 serve as worthy competitors as well.

KTM 200 Duke Pros and Cons

  • 200 Duke Advantages

Sharp and Aggressive appearance, Most powerful 200cc bike on sale today, Comes with dual-channel ABS

  • 200 Duke Disadvantages

A bit pricey for a 200cc bike; engine requires hard revs to extract its maximum potential

  • Expert's Conclusion

The fact that it has a 200cc motor and still delivers incredible performance makes the 200 Duke come out as an absolute winner. That said, the substantial hike in price means it now costs more than the higher-capacity bikes like Suzuki Gixxer 250. However, it still remains one of the most thrilling bikes you can buy today.

The 200 duke has finally dropped its eight-year old design for a much fresher, Sharper and maybe even better-looking one.The new 200 now comes with a revised trellis frame with a bolt-on subframe, And it also borrows the drl-equipped halogen headlight, Tail section and the beefy tank shrouds from the 250 duke, Accentuating the little ktm’s bold presence.Behind the tank shrouds is a fuel tank that's now 3 litres larger, Which means less visits to the fuel station and more time riding! the new tank design, Along with a more spacious seat, Means the 200 is also more accommodating for tall riders and the tank allows for you to grip onto it much more naturally.

Q. Which is the best, Royal Enfield Classic 350 or KTM 200 Duke?
  • Both the bikes are good in their own forte. Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a great bike in fact that RE engineers and designers have maintained the charming DNA of its predecessor but without the niggles. On the other hand, the design update has given the KTM 200 Duke a new lease of life. Also, the fact that the new BS6-compliant motor does not lose out on performance almost makes it feel like a win-win. That said, the substantial hike in price means it is now more expensive than larger motorcycles such as the Suzuki Gixxer 250. However, when it comes to thrills, the KTM 200 Duke delivers it in spades! Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision.
