TVS has released a teaser video that confirms the launch date and shows the first official images of the production bike

TVS Apache RR 310 Launch Soon

After many spy pictures, we have now finally got to see official images of the production version of the TVS Apache RR 310 a.ka. Akula 310. Based on the BMW G 310 R, the bike was first showcased during the 2016 Auto Expo. We expect the flagship offering from TVS to be priced between Rs 2-2.3 lakh.

We had decoded a lot of information about the bike from the spy pictures floating around the internet, and the official teaser now gives us further insight into the bike. The video clearly shows the red trellis frame has ‘Race Spec’ written on it. It is similar to the concept shown at the Expo and looks similar to the BMW G 310 R’s unit.

Along with the frame, the video throws light on the front end. The twin LED headlamps are flanked by DRLs on both sides. It looks like a mix of the Triumph Daytona 675 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. A large windscreen sits on top and turn indicator stalks sit on both sides of the fairing. For instrumentation, it gets a vertically stacked console, a fully digital LCD unit similar to the one on the KTM RC 390. The fuel tank is bulky and set tall, giving the bike a hunkered-down appearance. The rear is compact with a small and sharp tail light. The bike sport a bright red shade with white graphics that give it the appearance of a race bike. Apt, considering TVS’ 35 years of racing.

Coming to the heart, the Apache RR 310 gets the 313cc single-cylinder engine borrowed from the G 310 R. While the entry-level BMW naked churns out 34PS of power and 28Nm of torque, we expect similar levels of performance from the Apache 310’s motor.

Other than the engine, the bike also seems to get the G 310 R’s suspension parts: gold anodised upside-down front forks and a monoshock unit at the rear. It also seems to get the same alloy wheels, switchgear and exhaust unit as the German bike. The bike will employ petal disc brakes on both ends, with ABS possibly being an option.

Once the bike is launched, it will take on the KTM RC 390, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Benelli 302R. We’ll be riding this exciting new bike tomorrow, so stay tuned to ZigWheels for a detailed review of the TVS Apache RR 310.
