Pros and Cons of G 310 R

Likes
  • Looks muscular and has attractive colour schemes. Sublime handling doesn’t come at the cost of harsh ride quality. Motor feels energetic but with less vibrations now
Dislikes
  • The LCD console feels dated and out of place on such a premium bike. Limited dealership network. Service costs are still on the higher side
Expert's Conclusion

BMW has managed to iron out the majority of the issues that stopped us from wholeheartedly recommending the Bavarian naked. It is a delight to ride in the twisties with enough power on tap to thrill you. It is also more affordable now, which bodes well for its positioning in the market. Wish it came with better tyres, though.

G 310 R Key Highlights

Design: In terms of design, the G 310 R is exactly what you would expect a BMW designed bike to look like. It gets the same LED headlight and turn indicators that we first saw on the F 900 R. The golden-finished USD fork gives the front an aggressive stance. The profile is dominated by the large sculpted 11-litre fuel tank, the tank extensions, and the massive exhaust. The seat looks long and wide enough for comfort. Seat height is low at 785mm.

Features: The G 310 R now gets all-LED lighting, giving the baby roadster a proper muscular look. The headlight works brilliantly, leaving little room for complaints. The turn indicators get this lovely Lamborghini-esque ‘>’ shape. Our only grouse with the bike’s feature set is the LCD console. While it has enough data on demand, it isn’t that great to look at and doesn’t even have any smartphone connectivity options.

Engine: The G 310 R sports a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit that continues to produce 34PS at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm. Thanks to the inclusion of ride-by-wire and a few new internal bits, the engine feels a lot smoother than the BS4 motor. It finally gets a slip-and-assist clutch making gear shifts on the six-speed gearbox, an effortless affair. The bike gets a tubular steel frame with 43mm upside-down front forks and rear monoshock damper. It gets 17-inch alloys wrapped in 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear Michelin Pilot Street radial tyres. Braking is via a single 300mm front disc clamped with radially mounted calipers and a 240mm rear disc. It gets dual-channel ABS as standard.

Rivals: The chief rival of the BMW G 310 R remains the KTM 390 Duke. After the BS6 updates and recent price revisions of both bikes, the baby Beemer is now more affordable than the Austrian streetfighter. The Honda CB300R is another natural rival of the G 310 R. For the price of the G 310 R though, you could get the TVS Apache RR 310.

Q. What is the pick up speed time from 0 to 120km?
  • Though we haven't tested the acceleration of the bike from 0-120kmph, it takes 8.01 seconds to reach 0 to 100kmph.
Q. Confused between G 310 R or Street 750?
  • It would be unfair to give a verdict as Harley Davidson Street 750 has been discontinued and is not available for sale now. On the other hand, BMW G 310 R is a great pick. BMW G 310 R is a sportbike with a 313cc motor, it has got excellent brakes, offers good bite, feedback and progression. Features packed bikes are pretty much the norm these days. In BMW G 310 R, you have LED lights all around, Additional comforts include an adjustable clutch and brake levers which will help you fine-tune the lever reach as per your hand size. The handling capabilities of the BMW G 310 R far outweigh the grip of its Michelin Pilot Street tyres. As far as touring is concerned, this bike can sit comfortably at highway speeds of around 100kmph, but anything beyond that begins to feel harsh. So yes, you can use it for long-distance touring. And if you happen to find some poor or broken roads on this tour, the BMW’s excellent ride quality will do a fine job of soaking most of it up. But if pukka off-roading is what you have in mind, considering this bike could be among not so good decisions. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
Q. What is the reserve fuel capacity?
  • In general, 10-12 percent of the overall fuel capacity is the reserved capacity of the vehicle. BMW G 310 R features an 11 liters fuel tank and the reserved fuel capacity would be around 1.1- 1.32 liters.

Q. Are there hazard warning light in bike pre installed ?
  • BMW G 310 R is not available with pre-installed hazard lights.
  • Nowadays a lot of bikes come with hazard lights as stock light the 2020 RE Himalayan, Honda H'ness, hero Xtreme 160 etc
  • BMW G 310 R is not available with pre-installed hazard lights.
Q. Which one is better G310 R or royal enfield metor?
  • Selecting the right bike would depend on several factors such as your budget preference, features required, engine options, brand preference, etc. BMW G 310 R is powered by a 313 cc engine. This G 310 R engine generates a power of 34 PS @ 9250 rpm and a torque of 28 Nm @ 7500 rpm. On the other hand, if we talk about THE thump, which seemed to have been muffled by BS6, is back with RE’s brand spanking new Meteor 350, the successor to the Thunderbird 350. Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is powered by a 349 cc engine. This Meteor 350 engine generates a power of 20.4 PS @ 6100 rpm and a torque of 27 Nm @ 4000 rpm. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership.
  • BMW 310R is way more punchy as I experienced during the test ride when compared to the Meteor. Also the ride and handling of the 310R was superior as compared to the Meteor. That being said, I finally settled for the Honda CB 350RS which was smoother than the Meteor, but not punchy like the 310R, plus it was about 70,000 cheaper. Also the quality and reliability of the Honda sealed the deal for me in addition to its fantastic looks and sleek silhouettte.
Q. 1 year insurance amount of BMW G 310 R?
  • For this, we would suggest you to get in touch with the authorized dealership in your respective city as that will be an appropriate point of contact to get assistance for your concern. You can check the authorized dealer details here. You can also check the estimated insurance charges here: Insurance.
  • The G 310 R is powered by a BS6-compliant 313cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor which makes 34PS at 9,500rpm and 28Nm at 7,500rpm, the same as before.
