Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Latest Updates

Royal Enfield has revised the prices of its entire range. Its flagship cafe racer, the Continental GT 650, has received a price hike ranging from Rs 4,701 to Rs 6,510 depending on the variant. Check out our story for more details.

Royal Enfield unveiled the 120th Year Anniversary Edition of the Continental GT 650 at this year’s EICMA show. Apart from an exclusive colour scheme, it also comes with unique touches making the motorcycle much more special than the regular variant. You can read more about the special edition version here. And as for the on-road pricing, check this out. Sadly, you cannot buy this variant anymore as it flew off the shelves in under two minutes after the sales window opened on December 6!

For 2021, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 received four new shades: Rocker Red, British Racing Green, Ventura Storm and Dux Deluxe. The Mister Clean chrome shade has also been left untouched. Aside from these new colours, all models (barring the Dux Deluxe) now arrive with black fenders and black spoke rims. Fork gaiters are standard as well. Even though the prices for the 2021 Continental GT 650 went up considerably, the bike provides an authentic cafe racer experience that no motorcycle in its price range can match. More details on the update in this story.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Engine

The Continental GT 650 draws power from a 648cc, air and oil-cooled parallel-twin motor that makes peak power of 47.6PS at 7100rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5200rpm. A 6-speed transmission assisted by a slip-and-assist clutch transfers power to the rear wheel via chain drive. The chassis is an all-new dual-cradle frame that has been developed by Harris Performance. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear with preload adjustability. The bike is anchored by a single 320mm disc mated to a ByBre four-piston calliper up front and a single 240mm disc brake at the rear. Dual-channel ABS comes right off the shelf. Royal Enfield has equipped the Continental GT 650 with Ceat Zoom Curve tyres.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Features

Coming to the design and features, the Continental GT, in proper Cafe Racer fashion, gets clip-on handlebars that are slightly taller than before, single seat with a race cowl, and blacked-out spoke wheels. The fuel tank on the Continental GT 650 is smaller (12.5litre) than its predecessor, the Continental GT 535, which had a 13.7litre tank. Going by the retro theme, the bike gets a twin-pod analogue speedometer which houses a small digital display with readouts such as the odometer and two trip meters. Simplicity carries over to the headlight, tail light and turn indicators as well where it uses conventional bulbs instead of LEDs.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Continental GT 650

Q. Is this bike value for money?
  • The GT’s sporty riding position makes it much more suitable for twisty mountain roads and even high-speed straight-line blasts. To top things off, the new twin-cylinder motor finally provides the performance and refinement that the 535 simply couldn’t. The Continental GT 650 draws power from a 648cc, air and oil-cooled parallel-twin motor that makes peak power of 47.6PS at 7100rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5200rpm. Q. Which bike is better, TVS Apache RR 310 or Royal Enfield Continental GT 650?
  • Selecting between the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and TVS Apache RR 310 would depend on certain factors such as your budget, preference of the segment, performance figures, features required, etc. The Continental GT 650 is a fun to ride cafe racer. The GT’s sporty riding position makes it much more suitable for twisty mountain roads and even high-speed straight-line blasts. To top things off, the twin-cylinder motor provides the performance and refinement that the 535 simply couldn’t. On the other hand, TVS has done an incredible job in ironing out the sore spots of the Apache RR 310 with the BS6 update. It is loaded with tech, making it the most technologically advanced motorcycle in its class. The new prices are quite close to its fiercest rival -- the KTM RC 390. While it may lack the outright performance of the RC 390, the Apache RR 310 BS6 makes up for it by being a well-rounded machine that can do daily duties as well as corner carving or even touring, for that matter. For a better understanding of compatibility and riding comfort, we would suggest you take a test ride. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership.
More Questions
Q. Can Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 have 2 seater?
  • The continental interceptor gt can carry 2 people, it has rear pegs and a grab rail. You would need the touring seat rather than the single seat with cowl.
  • No GT is not 2 seater and style don't allow to modify for 2 seater
Q. I AM 5.7 FT, CAN I RIDE - Continental GT 650?
  • Of course you can ride it.. But how it fits will vary from person to person.. Someone that's 5ft 5Inches might think it's more comfortable than someone that's even 6ft tall. Everyone is different, so it really varies. The only drawback to being short on the GT 650 is being able to flat foot the bike. But short legs also mean you're legs aren't as bent when on the foot pegs. It's a funny thing.. The seat height is good for tall people, but the peg height is better for the short.
  • I think it feels quite difficult to handle continental ....😐with ur height yarrr❌.With this height u can ride interceptor more comfortably and safely.I prefer u to buy interceptor...more than Gt tnx😊
  • I'm 5.7 and I've had no problems at all. I own the bike for a year now. Also the single seat is even shorter height so it's better. I can flatfoot with the single seat with cowl.

Q. Is Continental GT Fit for long rides are there any cons???
  • Being a continental gt650 owner I feel the bike is comfortable for long rides. Myself (gt650) and my brother( bullet 500) took our ride from Chennai to kodaikanal (589km) and back to Chennai the next day together 1230km . I didn\'t have any pain in my wrists or back. Since we had stops only after 100-150 km i had my b**t paining( not so cushioned seats would be the reason ). It was comfortable even when you was riding up hill and it's obvious you will experience the wrists pain when you downhill because of your body weight being put on wrists that happens with all sporty positioned bikes. Cons is the fuel tank capacity where I had to refill tank for more number of times than usual. Note : my height 6.2 and weight 83 kg.
  • For long ride it has some -ve points. All the support fall on palm. So riding for a long time, both hands may feel pain.Clutch is a little bit hard, for long riding left wrist may feel pain. But the power and smoothness of engine will help to forget the cons.....
  • Nope bro i don't think it will be fit for long rides for 180 km i hve done because i stay in a broad so i yv ride for 180 km as a long ride so in my opinion in 180 km u wont feel that much stress but lil dizzy u will feel when u reach ua destination..
