TVS Akula 310 Spotted Undisguised

The upcoming TVS Akula 310 (or the Apache RTR 310) has been spied several times now, but the latest pictures reveal a few new details about the motorcycle. The recent spy shots of a complete street-ready motorcycle indicate that the TVS Akula 310 will be launched in a couple of months. The Akula 310 is a fully faired bike which shares its underpinnings with the BMW G 310 R. The G 310 R will be manufactured by TVS at their Chennai plant for BMW Motorrad. The Akula 310 was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The motorcycle shares the BMW G 310 R’s 313cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine which develops 34PS of power and 28Nm of peak torque. The power and torque figures of the Akula 310 might be slightly different depending on the nature of the bike. The motorcycle gets a steel trellis frame, upside-down 41mm telescopic forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear, TVS signature petal disc brakes and possibly Pirelli tyres offered as standard along with a fully-digital instrument console. As the motorcycle gets digital clocks we expect it to get a lap timer, top speed and sprint recorder, gear positioning indicator and service reminder. There are multiple telltale lights above the LCD screen and a shift indicator on its right side. Two setting buttons have also been provided, one on each side of the screen as we had seen in the earlier spotted pictures.

The Akula 310 gets a split pattern headlamp on the fairing, which was missing on the concept bike. The motorcycle gets split seats and a cluster of LED tail lamps inspired by shark fins. We expect it to be priced around Rs 2 lakh, which will make it a strong competitor to the KTM RC 390, Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR250R and the upcoming Benelli Tornado 310R.
