The new variant will have the same features as the Honda Activa 6G H-Smart version
After the Honda Activa 6G and Activa 125, Honda has updated the OG sporty scooter of India – Dio – and has given it the H-Smart treatment as well.
The scooter is now OBD 2 compliant and is priced at Rs 70,211 for the standard variant, Rs 74,212 for the DLX variant and Rs 77,712 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the new, fully kitted out H-Smart variant. The OBD 2 treatment costs Rs 1,586 premium.
For Rs 3,500 over the DLX variant, the H-Smart variant should come with the same smart key fob with the same features as the one in the Activa twins. In the Activa, it offers the following:
Feature |
Functionality |
Smart Find |
If you’re within 10 metres of the scooter, all the four indicators will flash, letting you know the location of the vehicle. |
Smart Unlock |
The handle, fuel lid and seat can all be unlocked from up to two metres away. |
Smart Safe |
The scooter can be turned on if you’re within two metres. But if the distance increases, the scooter locks itself automatically. |
Smart Start |
Turn the scooter on by simply turning the knob and pushing the start button |
In addition to the smart features, the Dio will finally roll on alloys which will enhance the sporty appeal of the scooter. However, it may miss out on a front disc, just like its family-oriented sibling.
While the engine is now compliant with BS6.2 emission norms, the displacement stays the same at 109.5cc. It even makes the same 7.76PS and 9Nm as the standard model.
Lastly, the pre-OBD 2 models are still available on the website and are likely to remain on sale till the stocks last. The pre-OBD 2 standard model is priced at Rs 68,625 and the DLX variant is priced at Rs 72,626 (both ex-showroom Delhi).
It primarily rivals the Hero Xoom scooter, although the Hero scooter is more feature packed and fresh.
