Honda CB200X Bike Latest Updates

Honda has launched the CB200X in India at a premium of Rs 13,318 over the standard Hornet 2.0. The bike’s designed to be a road-biased tourer with the ability to hit light trails, if need be. You can read all about it in our launch piece.

Honda CB200X Engine

The CB200X uses the same 184.40cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that puts out 17.26PS at 8500rpm and 16.1Nm at 6000rpm, mated to a 5-speed transmission. On the hardware side of things, you have a diamond-type frame that holds everything together. A USD fork and a monoshock handle suspension duties while petal disc brakes (276mm/220mm) at both ends help anchor the bike. Its 17-inch wheels are wrapped around dual-purpose tyres, 110/70-section front and 140/70-section rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. The CB200X is 12mm shorter (2,035mm) than its naked sibling. It also gets a 23mm longer seat for better comfort. Not to mention, the weight of the fairing adds 5kg to the bike’s overall weight of 147kg.

Honda CB200X Variants

The Honda CB200X is available in a single variant with a special 6-year warranty.

Honda CB200X Design

The CB200X takes its inspiration from the CB500X. The front fairing, to a large extent, resembles the mid-displacement tourer with a small beak, a full-LED headlight, and a windscreen for wind protection. The rest of the bike is basically the Hornet 2.0.

Key Features of Honda CB200X

You even have slightly taller and wider handlebars for an upright riding posture and knuckle guards with integrated LED turn indicators. The split seat has been redesigned with better cushioning for improved comfort. Other than that, it comes equipped with a full-digital instrument console, full-LED lighting, an engine stop switch, and hazard lights. The key fob is placed on the tank, just like its older sibling, the CB500X.

Honda CB200X Competitors

In our market, the Honda CB200X primarily rivals the Hero XPulse 200.

Honda CB200X Pros and Cons

  • CB200X Advantages

Looks handsome; Comfortable ergonomics; Peppy, easy-going engine

  • CB200X Disadvantages

Not adventure-ready; Minimal modern features; Carries a hefty price tag

  • Expert's Conclusion

The Honda CB200X is a surprisingly likeable little motorcycle that has good city manners and is decent for short highway trips. It doesn’t have the right tools to go adventure riding, though. But the big issue with the bike is its hefty price tag, which might deter a lot of buyers.

  • The bike is really plush

The bike is really plush on highway it grips very well, But the samme suspension setup is rough through potholes. There are no vibration on the bike upto 90kmph after which there are minor vibrations. The rider seat is very comfortable but the same cant be said for pillion seat the mileage is great, There is no mileage indicator on bike but it ranges between 35-40 kmpl in city traffic and have reached 50kmpl on constant speed highway ride(ideally between 60-75 kmph). The headlights are not very bright so if you are planning rides you may need auxiliary lights.

    Battery Terminal Looseness

Literally, I hate this bike because when I bought this bike within 3 days I found the battery terminal looseness due to this bike not starting also. When I was riding to my home town after approx 15days again the same problem, and one more from initial itself bike are having an idling issue it means as per standards the vehicle starting it has to rise up to 2000rpm within 30 seconds it has to come down to1500rpm but in this bike, it never happened. I have to say for all these issues with this bike it's a terrible bike. I suggest guys buy any bike but check through all parts and mainly with BS6 bikes check whether the idling issue immediately as per standard or not.

    Good Driving Experience

My review after 10,000 km on the Honda CB200X, it's more fun to ride a machine getting (42 - 48)km/ltr, and those big tires give you great stability and confidence in the corners as well as on the gravel area, and it has got really good acceleration, mid-range is awesome, it's not a top-end motorcycle, it's all about smooth and reliable riding machine! It has got good off-road capability. but not that great like Pulse or other adv. but in case of cruising it can cruise at the speed range of (80-110) without even a minimal vibration, Overall it's a great package with the best looks and amazing experience till now. Coming to the cons- 1. rear seat (if you can cushion it, it's great) 2. low power headlamps 3. low ground clearance.

More Questions
Q. Which bike is better FZ-X or CB200X?
  • Both the bikes are good in their forte. The Yamaha FZ-X is a great commuter thanks to its easy-going ergonomics and suspension. But there’s no going around the fact that the Yamaha FZ-X is a head-turner (may not be for all the right reasons). So, if you are on a hunt for a bike that stands out in the general crop of commuters in the segment, the Yamaha FZ-X is the one for you. On the other hand, Honda CB200X offers comfortable ergonomics and a relaxed riding position. This bike has unmistakably stylish looks. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Q. Is CB200X better than X Pulse 200?
  • The Honda CB200X certainly doesn’t have a lot to offer over the Hero XPulse 200. The latter not just comes with equipment suited for any terrain, but also boasts of features like a Bluetooth-enabled console with turn-by-turn navigation. The Honda CB200X is better suited if you intend to stick to the city limits and the occasional weekend jaunts. But if you are looking for something more, why not save the extra moolah and get the XPulse 200. The Hero XPulse 200 makes a tad more power and torque than the Honda CB200X. Though the Xpulse packs more performance than Honda’s ADV, it also has 10kg more to lug around than the CB. So, picking out a clear winner is a tough task. Honda CB200X and the Hero XPulse use a similar chassis and even have the same braking setup. However, it is the choice of suspension and tyres. While the Honda rides on the same USD fork and mono-shock as on the Hornet 2.0, Hero has equipped the XPulse with long-travel suspension at both ends. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership..Read more: Should You Pick Up Honda’s Most Affordable ADV?.
