Honda SP160 Overview
Honda has launched the SP160, a more stylish version of the Unicorn and here's all that you need to know.
Honda SP160 Key Highlights
Design: It takes its style from the sporty Honda SP125, which is a sportier version of the Honda Shine 125. The SP160 looks tougher than the Unicorn, with sharp extensions on the fuel tank. If you want a bike that looks sporty but is still good for regular riding, the SP160 might interest you.
Features: The SP160 has a digital display showing basic information like fuel level, gear, trip, speed, mileage, and time. It also has LED lights, with the tail light having a cool M-shaped design similar to the SP125.
Engine: Under the hood, the SP160 and the Unicorn have the same BS6.2 162.71cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. They both produce 13.4PS of power and 14.58Nm of torque, and they use a five-speed gearbox. The suspension uses a telescopic fork and a monoshock. For braking, the double disc version has a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, while the single disc version has a 130mm rear drum brake with single-channel ABS. In comparison, the Honda Unicorn has a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum brake. The SP160's seat is 796mm high, and it has a ground clearance of 177mm. The tyres on the sporty SP160 are wider: 80/100 -17 at the front and 130/70 -17 at the rear.
Rivals: The SP160 is a good-looking 160cc bike for daily use, not exactly for racing. It will compete with bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar P150, Yamaha FZ-S, and TVS Apache RTR 160.
Variants: The Honda SP160 comes in two versions: one with a single disc priced at Rs 1,17,500, and another with double discs priced at Rs 1,21,900. On the other hand, the Unicorn is more affordable at Rs 1,09,800 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 7,700 less.

Honda SP160 Expert Review
The Honda SP160 stands out as a sporty 160cc offering from the Japanese manufacturer and also a sporty alternative to the Honda Unicorn. Here’s how it performs in the real world.
Design
Honda has done a pretty good job in the design department as the SP160 really does stand out when compared to its rivals. The bike comes with a sporty commuter design, with a bit of sharp design elements.
The brand has also added tank extensions with the metallic Honda banding and this gives the bike a premium feel overall. The graphics are also quite stylish and are able to bring the bike’s sporty nature out, without being too aggressive. It is simple and elegant.
Engine, Mileage and Performance
The bike is powered by a 162.7cc air-cooled single cylinder engine which outputs 13.46PS and 14.58Nm. The power figures are decent for a bike in the 160cc air-cooled segment and makes the bike a good choice for riders who are looking for a commuter which won’t feel lacking in terms of power. As with most Honda engines, the one on the SP160 is refined and offers a smooth riding experience.
Handling And Ride Quality
The SP160 doesn't disappoint when it comes to handling, the bike feels nimble in the city and cutting through traffic should be a very easy job. The suspension setup is well tuned, and can absorb most bumps and potholes without any issue but sharper ones will be felt.
Comfort
The seating setup on the SP160 is quite comfortable, the long single piece seat is well cushioned. Honda has done a decent job here as the seat neither feels too hard nor too soft, it is that perfect balance which allows the bike to accommodate both long trips and short commutes in the city.
Features
What stands out on the SP160 is the instrument console, which has a very clean layout. The bike comes with a fully-digital unit which offers readouts such as speed, time, gear position, tachometer readouts and fuel levels, along with the usually tripmeter and odometer. The console has a neat layout and feels quite premium as well.
Should you buy the Honda SP160?
The Honda SP160 makes for a lovely commuter and offers decent performance, along with a good set of features. But what makes it stand out from the rest is its stylish design and graphics which gives the bike its sporty looks. If you are looking for a sporty-looking 160cc commuter then the Honda SP160 is definitely worth considering.
