New Maruti Alto K10 To Soon Get CNG Variant

Should offer a fuel economy of around 35km/kg

  • New-gen K10 launched with the latest Maruti K10C 1-litre petrol engine.

  • CNG variant to be offered in multiple trim levels.

  • Output should be around 56PS in CNG mode, similar to the Celerio CNG.

  • Expected to cost around Rs 1 lakh over the respective petrol-only variants.

Maruti has confirmed that the Alto K10 will soon get a natural gas option. It’s expected to be offered in multiple variants paired with the manual transmission.

Alto K10 CNG engine specs

In the standard Alto K10, the Suzuki K10C engine produces 67PS and 89Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox with the choice of an AMT. Expect the power and torque outputs to be lower in CNG mode; going by the Celerio CNG that has the same engine, the Alto K10 will have an output of around 56PS and 82Nm.

The Alto K10’s engine is already frugal in petrol mode with a claimed fuel economy of 24.39km per litre. Expect the CNG variant to offer around 35km per kg with the manual transmission.

How much will the Alto K10 cost?

The Celerio and recently updated Swift CNG both cost a premium of just under Rs 1 lakh over the corresponding petrol variants. Expect a similar premium for the Alto K10 that currently retails from Rs 3.99 lakh to Rs 5.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
