Alto Key Highlights
Features: The Alto-800 had received a facelift back in April 2019 with some styling revisions, especially at the front with an all-new grille and a redesigned bumper. Interior highlights include a 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features on offer are reverse parking sensors, driver, front co-passenger airbags, speed alert system, seatbelt reminder for both front occupants, as well as ABS and EBD.
Engine: The Alto is powered by a BS6-compliant 796cc 3-cylinder petrol mill, delivering 47PS/69Nm, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It has a fuel efficiency of 22.05kmpl.
Rivals: The Alto's alternatives are the Renault Kwid and the Datsun redi-GO in India.
Variants: The Alto-800 is now retailed in four variants: Std (O), LXi (O), VXi, and VXi+. It is available in six body shades: red, white, silver, green, grey and blue. Maruti also offers a CNG kit with the LXi trim.
Key Things to Know about Alto
- Now all variants have dual airbags as an option
- Future ready BS6 compliant engine
- You just can't beat the Maruti service network
- Still no touchscreen infotainment system
- No AMT option
- Base variant misses essentials like power steering and air conditioning
Kudos to Maruti for now including safety features like dual airbags and ABS throughout the range. The BS6 compliant engine is an added bonus and we're sure the slight drop in efficiency won't hurt too much. All these updates keep it one of the easiest picks in the entry level segment.
