The next-generation Maruti Alto will be powered by the 1-litre K10C engine only from the Celerio and S-Presso. It’ll bring back the ‘Alto K10’ name with a 5-speed manual ‘box as standard and an optional AMT automatic available on select variants.
Maruti’s next-generation compact hatchback will break cover on August 18. The Alto K10 is expected to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh onwards (ex-showroom) upon launch.

The new Alto K10 will get Maruti’s K10C engine that debuted in the Celerio and is now also offered with the S-Presso. It’s the 1-litre Dualjet petrol engine equipped with idle start/stop and Dualjet technology for better efficiency. In the Celerio and the S-Presso, the K10C engine offers an impressive claimed fuel economy of around 25kmpl and produces 67PS and 89Nm.
Maruti’s next-generation Alto K10 will be offered in four trim levels, standard, Lxi, Vxi and Vxi+. Alongside a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, an AMT automatic will be offered on the Vxi and Vxi+ trim levels.

The current Maruti Alto will continue to be sold at the entry level with a 0.8-litre engine as before.

The new Maruti Alto K10 is longer and taller than its predecessor; just 35mm shy of the S-Presso’s length. It’ll slot between the entry-level 800cc Alto and S-Presso in Maruti’s lineup. A 20mm longer wheelbase should give the new Alto and Alto K10 more cabin space, too.
