Maruti Suzuki has launched the Dream Series Limited Edition S-Presso at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The limited edition comes with the top-spec manual Vxi+ variant of the hatchback, and will be available for the month of June 2024 only. The limited edition will also bring in cosmetic upgrades for the exterior and interior. Feature additions include a reverse parking camera, 2 speakers, and a security system.

S-Presso Key Highlights

Features: Visually, the S-Presso looks like a jacked-up Alto. That said, the S-Presso has its own styling elements. The S-Presso gets bits like steering-mounted audio controls, 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a digital display with MID. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert as well as driver and co-driver seat belt warning.

Engine: The S-Presso is available in BS6-compliant petrol powered by the 1.0-litre K10B motor, which develops 68PS. A CNG kit is also offered with the new 1-litre, Dual Jet petrol engine developing 57PS and 82Nm. While the CNG S-Presso gets only a 5-speed manual transmission, the petrol-only model gets the option of an AMT. Maruti Suzuki claims that the CNG S-Presso will provide 32.73km/g and the petrol-only model will give a mileage of 21.7 kmpl

Rivals: The S-Presso rivals the likes of the Renault Kwid.

Variants: The S-Presso can be had in a total of four variants: Std (O), LXi (O), VXi (O), VXi+. The AMT transmission is only available in the VXi and VXi+ trims.

The engine gets noisy past 3500rpm and there is a lot of road noise seeping in the cabin too. Add that the sound insulation isn't particularly great, and it’s best you tackle highway commutes at sedate speeds. The S-Presso’s 5-speed manual gearbox is crisp and snappy to use. The light and short-throw allow you to execute a quick shift with ease, and this reduces the stress on the driver even further. We also sampled the AMT version of the S-Presso. Whether it be ambling along in the city or even cruising steadily on the highway, this gearbox works really well. Another aspect where the S-Presso really surprises you is the way it tackles our ever broken roads. At low speeds, you do feel the lightness of the chassis and the firmness of the suspension as it feels a bit skittish over a broken patch of road. But to our surprise, if you tackle the same patch at a higher speed, the S-Presso just glides over the imperfections. The suspension does well to soften the blows from potholes even on the highway. But being tall and narrow, it’s better to drive at a sensible pace, and not change lanes in a hurry either.
