The distribution of the recently launched Mahindra XUV700 is set to begin, as leaked images suggest that production of the SUV may have started. It could arrive at dealerships for display and test drives by September. The XUV700 is priced from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Despite these early reports, we think you’ll have to wait until October for the deliveries to commence. Also, Mahindra has so far only confirmed the prices of the SUV’s five-seater manual variants -- MX Petrol, MX Diesel, AX3 Petrol, and AX5 Petrol. The prices of the seven-seater, automatic, and all-wheel drive variants are expected soon.
The XUV700 boasts a more mature design language, evolved from its spiritual predecessor, the XUV500. Inside, it comes with a boatload of features, including twin 10.25-inch screens running on Mahindra’s new AdrenoX UI, Alexa AI connected car tech, a 12-speaker Sony 3D sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging. Securing passenger safety are seven airbags, personalised voice safety alerts, a 360-degree camera, high beam assist, ABS with EBD, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Powering the XUV700 will be beefier versions of the Thar’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The diesel unit also has three drive modes: Zip, Zam, and Zoom. However, power figures and drivetrain options will be different for the MX and AX diesel variants.
