The XUV700 is among the top sellers in the Mahindra’s SUV lineup. Recently, the automaker also refreshed the SUV with a model year update, incorporating a few design tweaks and introducing six-seater variants. Now, a document from the Transport Department, Government of NCT of Delhi has emerged, offering insights into the likelihood of the XUV700 petrol being offered with an automatic gearbox in the base MX trim.
Currently, the XUV700 is available in five variants: MX, AX3, AX5, AX7 and AX7L. Currently, the automatic transmission is offered from the one-above-base AX3 variant onwards. . As per the details in the document, the new variant will only be offered with the 200PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and not the 2.2-litre diesel engine.
The introduction of an entry-level automatic variant will not only broaden the appeal of the XUV700, but will make the two-pedal driving setup in the XUV700 a whole lot more accessible.

The MX trim comes equipped with features such as 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto (no Apple CarPlay), 7-inch multi-info display, power windows, type-C charging ports for second row passengers, and a four-speaker audio system. Safety features include ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
