Things just got real! Multiple Bajaj dealers across Pune are now accepting bookings for the eagerly awaited Dominar 250. Want to secure one for yourself? Booking amounts are in the range of Rs 500 to 1,000, so head to your nearest showroom now! Want to check out the bike first before putting down your hard-earned cash? Well, the bike is expected to arrive at dealerships over the next couple of days, so keep your eyes peeled.

An official launch is expected very soon, and word on the grapevine tells us that it’s likely to be priced around Rs Rs 1.60 lakh to 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom), making the 250 about Rs 20,000 to 30,000 more affordable than its elder sibling, the Dominar 400. At this price point, it’ll face competition from the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and its faired cousin, the SF, as well as the recently refreshed KTM 200 Duke BS6.

The price cut hasn’t come at the cost of features, though. The 250 will still get the distinctive LED headlight, a USD fork, digital twin-screen instrumentation, a radially-mounted front brake caliper, and the now signature twin-exit exhaust system, just like the larger Dominar. The only real compromise is the swingarm, which will be a box-section design in contrast to the 400’s cast unit.

The quarter-litre motor comes courtesy of the KTM 250 Duke and will be BS6-compliant right off the bat. If its output remains the same, we can expect figures of 29.91PS and 24Nm. This is the most docile of all the KTM powerhouses, so it should be a good fit in a bike like the Dominar.

If you are a fan of this 250cc motor but the Dominar body-style doesn’t suit your fancy, why don’t you go ahead and check out the new Swedish kids on the block - the recently launched Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250.
