Expert's Opinion on Dominar 250
- The Bajaj Dominar 250, is a 250cc power cruiser from Bajaj. It gets a 250cc DOHC motor which offers a lot of refinement. It looks muscular with the panels from the Dominar 400 and gets thinner tyres, thinner fork and a box type swingarm.
- The Dominar 250 looks identical to the Dominar 400
- It gets a muscular stance along with a striking design
- Overall the 250 looks good but its hard to distinguish between it and the 400
- Gets thinner tyres which do not look good
- The Dominar 250 gets a 249cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor which makes 27PS and 23.5Nm
- The performance is quite good but the weight of the motorcycle restricts it to go fast
- Mid-range performance is not good and the gearbox needs to be worked out for quicker acceleration
- Thanks to the thinner tyres, the Dominar 250 feels a lot more agile than the Dominar 400
- It still feels absolutely planted out on the highway thanks to its long wheel base and 180kg kerb weight
- It gets a 37mm fork and an adjustable monoshock
- There’s a 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc along with dual channel ABS
- The brakes provide enough braking for the kind of performance the Dominar 250 offers
- Could have been a bit lighter
- The turning radius is a bit too much
- The suspension setup on the Dominar 250 is quite well setup for both, city commutes and highway runs
- It is not too stiff nor too soft but still manages our Indian roads with ease
- The Dominar 250 shares the ergonomics with the Dominar 400 which is a very comfortable motorcycle
- The single-piece handlebar is perfectly positioned
- The saddle height is kept at a low 800mm which is quite accessible for riders of sizes
- Pillion comfort is also quite good with ample of space to move around
- In terms of features the Dominar 250 gets a fully digital instrument cluster which shows all the basic information and also gets a gear position indicator
- It gets a slipper clutch and dual channel ABS as the only rider aids
- All LED lights
- Doesn't get a whole lot of features
- For the price, the Dominar 250 offers good performance and refinement
- It is quite good at highway touring and can also manage city commutes
- Lack of features
- Thinner tyres make it look bad from some angles
- There are other motorcycles in the segment which offer more performance and equipment for a similar price
Pros and Cons of Dominar 250
- Sporty looks, Good price to power ratio, Beefy underpinnings
- Heaviest bike in the segment, Gets first-gen Dominar's old instrument cluster
The Dominar 250 gets it right not just because it's affordable but because it's perfectly designed for its intended use. While the 250cc engine might not be as thrilling on the KTM, it performs exceptionally well on the Dominar, especially when matched with its comfortable touring setup. It rightly earns the title of a 'sports tourer.' So, even though Bajaj promotes it as the entry-level Dominar, we believe the 250 is the ideal and complete version of the Dominar.
