Bajaj Dominar 250 Bike Latest Updates

Thinking about purchasing a Bajaj Dominar 250 or any other Bajaj two-wheeler? Take a look at the latest price list here.

The Bajaj Dominar 250 is the more affordable sporty tourer under the Dominar lineup, with its powertrain based on the KTM 250 Duke. We’ve ridden the 250cc bike and here’s what we think about it.

Check out Bajaj's SIAM (Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers) sales data for June 2023 here.

Bajaj Dominar 250 Engine

The KTM 250 Duke-sourced engine has been reworked to produce 27PS power at 8500rpm and 23.5Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed transmission, aided by a slipper clutch. Fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 13 litres. The KTM 250 Duke-sourced engine has been reworked to churn out 27PS power at 8500rpm and 23.5Nm at 6500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed transmission, aided by a slipper clutch. This quarter-litre Dominar uses a 37mm USD fork compared to the 43mm unit on its elder sibling, but retains the same monoshock. The front disc is smaller, at 300mm disc, while the rear one is the same 230mm one. The tyres are also slightly slimmer than the Dominar 400 -- 100-section front and 130-section rear radials.

Bajaj Dominar 250 Variants

The Dominar 250 is available in only one variant with three colour schemes: Racing Red, Sparkling Black and Citrus Rush. All of them retail at Rs 1,83,757 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Bajaj Dominar 250 Design

The Dominar 250 may feature the same bodywork and similar features as the Dominar 400, but it gets a couple of attractive dual-tone shades as well as a red colour option to differentiate itself from its elder sibling. Other noticeable differences include a skinnier 37mm fork, a slimmer rear tyre, box-section swingarm, and a smaller 300mm rotor at the front.

Key Features of Bajaj Dominar 250

On the feature front, the Dominar 250 comes with LED lights all around, a twin-barrel exhaust, perimeter frame, and bungee straps tucked under the seat. Bajaj has cut a few corners though. For instance, the 250 gets a tank-mounted console with tell-tale lights which is from the previous-gen Dominar. As a result, it misses out on extra features such as instantaneous fuel consumption and a gear position indicator. The dual-tone alloy wheels seen on the bigger Dominar have been replaced by simple matte black finished ones to keep costs in check.

Bajaj Dominar 250 Competitors

The Bajaj Dominar 250 competes against the Suzuki Gixxer 250, Apache RTR 200 4V and Yamaha FZ25 range. If you were to consider the 250cc segment, it also takes on the KTM 250 Duke and the Keeway K-Light 250V.

Bajaj Dominar 250 Pros and Cons

  • Dominar 250 Advantages

Butch looks, Good price to power ratio, Beefy underpinnings

  • Dominar 250 Disadvantages

    Heaviest bike in its class

  • Expert's Conclusion

Apart from its accessible price tag, the Dominar 250 does one thing right -- it is fit to purpose. The 250cc motor may feel boring on the KTM, but it works beautifully on the Dominar especially when you combine it with its comfortable touring ergonomics. It truly deserves the ‘sports tourer’ tag. So while Bajaj might pitch it as the entry-level Dominar, we think the 250 is the Dominar in its perfect form.

  • mix of power and style

"The Bajaj Dominar 250 exceeds prospects for motorcycle suckers in hunt of a harmonious mix of power and style without raising eyebrows. Its satiny design painlessly navigates the line between slyness and complication. Propelled by a248.8 cc, single- cylinder, liquid- cooled machine, the Dominar 250 discreetly boasts 27 PS of power, making it an emotional pantomime in its order. Its name point? An ergonomic riding position that ensures both megacity and trace lifts remain low- crucial and comfortable.
