Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Latest Updates
The sales figures for Royal Enfield bikes by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) are out. Here are the top 5 best-selling Royal Enfield bikes in May 2024.
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is the first bike from a Chennai-based manufacturer to be based on their all-new J platform. The motorcycle is also the most affordable cruiser in the company replacing the Royal Enfield Thunderbird range.
Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Key Highlights
Price: The Meteor 350 is available in twelve attractive colour options, at varying price points. The Fireball in black, blue, matt green & red variant costs Rs 2,05,900. The Stellar in red, black & blue variant costs Rs 2,15,900. The Aurora variant in black, green and blue is priced at Rs 2,19,900, while the top-spec Supernova is available in blue and red variants and costs Rs 2,29,900 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Design: The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 remains fairly similar to its predecessor (Thunderbird 350X) in terms of styling. This cruiser bike has an easy-to-reach handlebar and forward-set footpegs, ensuring a relaxed and comfortable riding posture. The round headlight assembly comes with a halogen bulb but features LED DRLs for a modern touch. The LED tail lamp and halogen turn indicators are circular as well. The bike features a flowing design with its teardrop-shaped fuel tank cohesively merging with its low-slung split seats. Rounding off its retro appeal are the round handlebar mirrors, which (along with the exhaust pipe) get a chrome finish on higher-end variants.
Features: The Meteor 350 features a semi-digital instrument cluster with tripper navigation (turn-by-turn assist) TFT pod as an optional accessory. On the main pod, the speed is shown by an analogue needle with a digital display showing the trip metre, odometer, gear position, fuel level, service indicator, eco prompt and a clock. The left switchgear is equipped with a USB port to charge your devices on the go. A dedicated hazard lamp switch is equipped on the right switchgear. The bike comes with dual-channel ABS for better safety.
Engine: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is powered by a single-cylinder, 349cc, BS6.2-compliant, fuel-injected engine which churns out 20.2PS and 27Nm. The mill works in conjunction with a five-speed gearbox. The engine is based on the J-series platform which is counterbalanced for optimum refinement. It rests inside a twin downtube spine frame which is suspended on a 41mm front fork and six-step preload-adjustable twin tube emulsion shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is taken care of by a 300mm front disc with a twin-piston axial calliper and a 270mm rear disc with a single-piston floating calliper. The bike gets dual-channel ABS as standard. It rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with 100-section and 140-section tubeless tyres respectively. The bike weighs 191kg (kerb) and gets a 15-litre fuel tank. It has an accessible 765mm seat height and a generous 170mm ground clearance.
Rivals: The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 goes up against the likes of the Yezdi Roadster, Jawa 42 Bobber, Jawa Perak, Hero Mavrick 440, Harley Davidson X440 and even the more modern cruisers such as the Bajaj Dominar 400 and the Keeway V302C.
Variants: The four variants of Meteor 350 (Fireball, Stellar, Aurora & Supernova) come with some noticeable visual differences. The side panels get a gloss-black finish in the Fireball series with stickered Royal Enfield tank badging. The higher-end variants get colour-coded side panels with 3D badging on the tank and also feature chrome exhaust pipe, chrome mirrors and cushioned pillion backrest. The top-end Aurora and Supernova get a dual-tone paint scheme, machine-cut alloys and a windshield. All variants except for the base Fireball come with a cushioned pillion backrest.

Meteor 350 Disadvantages
Not-so-exciting design, Basic equipment apart from turn-by-turn navigation, Engine could have been gruntier
Meteor 350 Expert's Conclusion
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is a well-rounded successor to the Thunderbird range with a refined engine and better handling. That said, the Meteor could’ve had better ride quality, and better cruising capability. All said and done, it is still an easy-to-ride motorcycle wrapped in a practical package.
Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Expert Review
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been in the market for about 4 years now and impressed everyone with its freshness when it hit the market then. But does it still have the charm, having remained pretty much unchanged since then?
Design
The Meteor 350 gets quite a handsome stance and sophisticated design lines that give the bike a good road presence. The wide variety of colour options, especially in the Aurora variant, are stellar to look at and the beautiful chrome finishing enhances the overall look very well.
Engine, Performance And Mileage
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is powered by a 349cc, single-cylinder engine producing 20.2PS at 6100rpm and 27Nm at 4000rpm. The engine feels very refined and you can cruise at speeds of 90-100kmph without much vibrations creeping in, meaning it is quite easy to do highway touring with. It offers good acceleration and the engine is quite tractable too, as you can move around the city in 30kmph at 4th gear. But if you want to overtake other vehicles, then you’ll have to downshift which isn’t a big problem as the gearbox is very smooth and the clutch action from the lever is light enough.
Handling & Ride Quality
The Meteor 350 has a kerb weight of 191kg but on the move and at standstill as well, the bike feels light. The weight distribution of the bike makes it quite easy to manoeuvre in tight city traffic conditions. It also tips into corners fairly easily and the light steering complements the good handling characteristics very well. The 1400mm wheelbase allows the bike to remain at high speeds on straight-line. Also, the Meteor 350’s wide steering range helps in taking U-turns easily. The brakes offer good stopping power but the initial bite from the front brake could have been better.
Comfort
The 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers suspension setup soaks up bumps and potholes quite well. But, with the rear suspension being on the firmer side, some of the bumps can be felt when you go over them at high speeds. The bike gets a relaxed riding posture with slightly forward-set footpegs and the wide single-piece handlebar. And the 765mm seat height makes the bike very accessible, even for shorter riders.
Features
The Meteor 350 gets a semi-digital instrument console with an analogue speedometer and an LCD screen that shows tripmeter, odometer, gear position, service indicator, Eco prompt, a clock and fuel gauge readouts. It also gets a USB charging port as standard. For an extra Rs 5,000, you can opt for the Tripper navigation that offers Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, which is a nice option from Royal Enfield.
Should You Buy The Royal Enfield Meteor 350?
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 flaunts a good design with some stylish colour options and offers relaxed performance, good handling characteristics and fairly comfortable riding experience. For a price tag of Rs 2,05,900 (ex-showroom Chennai), it offers great value if you are in the market for a 350cc bike that will take care of both your city as well highway riding needs.
