Here’s What’s Different On The 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, In 5 Pics

It’s more than just a visual nip-and-tuck, too!

Royal Enfield has showcased an updated Interceptor 650 abroad, with a host of changes: some obvious, some not so much. So here’s a detailed list of what to expect, with images!

Alloy wheels (finally!)

We start off with the most obvious change: alloy wheels, which seem to be a simpler design than that on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, or even the Hunter 350. This also means this variant of the Interceptor gets tubeless tyres, and the resultant reduction in unsprung mass may translate to better handling. That said, we’re still not sure whether the alloys are 17-inchers (like the Hunter) or 18-inchers (like the Classic 350).

Revamped visuals

Firstly, the new Interceptor variant adds two new colour options (Black Ray, and Barcelona Blue) over the standard model’s seven existing colours. But that’s not all, as the exhaust pipes, powertrain, and underpinnings are also powder-coated black (like the 120th Edition model).

New equipment

The final changes are inspired by the Super Meteor 650. First is the LED headlight, which replaces the standard model’s halogen unit. Next, the switchgear features a rotary dial-type button for the ignition and high/low beam. And finally, the left side switchgear gets a USB charging port. However, we would have preferred a redesigned console, with Royal Enfield’s trademark Tripper navigation pod.

Summing up

The various changes do make the Interceptor more desirable. However, we don’t yet know how much costlier the updated Interceptor variant is from the standard model. That said, Royal Enfield is set to launch it soon, so stay tuned!
