Q. I took a trail ride on Benelli 400 for 15 mints but felt heat on my right leg, I heard Benelli bike get heated very fast compare to Interceptor. - Imperiale 400?
  • Engine heat is a real problem as of now. On enquiry at the service centre I was informed that the heating will be considerably reduced after the first service.
Q. I am confused in buying Interceptor or Jawa, help me out.
  • 1. --- 24 years ago i have driven old jawa for thousands of KM . It will thrill me every time i touch the handle bar & pump it to alive the engine. The exhaust thump & interval between the next thump cant say in words. Flick & Kick is a wonderful experience . I used to get mileage around 30 kmpl to 35 kmpl. 2.--- Now to coming new jawa . I went test ride new jawa with imaginations & drove more than 210 km i got mileage of 18 kmpl. Engine is powerful till 110 km/hr then it straining to climb speed with vibrations & becomes too noisy .The exhaust sound is like hero splendor bike. There are lots welding visually seen around new jawa . They recreated visibly old jawa . Visually good bike. I didn't get moved or ringed & impressed while riding. 3.-- I owned old bullet 1996 model i used it as a bicycle go everywhere with it. 4.-- Initially when i test drove RE Classic 350 UCE i was upset with engine thump & Rhythm. But the driving experience impressed gave the same pleasure simply same as my old bullet. So i was convinced and purchased a RE Classic 350 UCE engine model and riding till date. 5.-- In addition to it i have purchased interceptor 650 without test driving it . Because the test ride bike & My allotted bike came in same lot went for registration same date . I would say the powerful bike i never owned & Ever manufactured by Royal enfield. my choice was good. I getting mileage around 22 kmpl to 27 kmpl depending upon speed i go.So that's how the new jawa didn't impress me. I never need a bike for visual pleasure.

  • If you can afford a budget of 3L, then go for Interceptor 650...miles ahead then the Jawa..plus it is a 650 CC parallel twin, you will enjoy the level of refinement this engine offers with almost zero vibrations. Compared to jawa, this motorcycle is extremely stable in its mid range. Only when u redline it, you can feel a bit of vibes in the foot pegs, but the vibrations are nothing compared to the other REs and not something that will bother you in high speed

Q. We want to choose between Interceptor and Himalayan, which is better. Have issue of back pain.
  • I own both the Himalayan and the Interceptor and I can definitely say with authority that with the himalayan you wont have a back pain. Ride is more comfortable due to the seating posture and the seat itself. Same goes for the pillion rider as well. What you will get is a solid freaking headache considering the Himalayan has so many other issues that you get fed up spending most of your time in RE service centers. I own a BS3 model. So I hope the later models have these issues sorted. Interceptor on the hand was built for a different purpose and tall riders (5 foot 9 and above) will have problems with their back. This is because of the seating posture. But there are work arounds to this. its a great bike and is open to customization unlike the Himalayan.
  • I can vouch for the comfort that Himalayan has to offer since I have taken it to places where most other bikes would just give up. Even on tarmac the soft sprung suspension of the Himalayan is much more comfortable than the Interceptor. However, the thrill that you experience riding the Interceptor is a whole new experience . Take a test ride of both & decide for yourself . Or just wait for a few months as RE should be launching the Himalayan 650 by the end of this year & that would surely be one hell of a machine.
  • I have Interceptor, when I Test Drove Himalayan, I felt has a better riding posture & comfort, seats are best. Interceptor is for those who love the mean machines for sheer power & pickup above 90Kmph, you will get a great tremendous performance. Interceptor is a highway performer and on some rough roads. I believe Himalayan is a great package as all rounder for that price. Latest BS-4 is of great build quality. If you want a best comfort in a bike and not looking for more speed greater than 90 Kmph smoothly, then Himalayan is great. Interceptor is a blend of power & performance and a heavy weight sports champion. My suggestion is for your height, stature and your body build, you need to take a sincere unbiased test drive of both of these on a longer ride, forget the others reviews on the internet when you do a test drive and buy which suits you well, keeping in mind what exactly you want. That will give you peace of mind.
