Next-Generation KTM 390 Adventure Is Almost Ready & It Isn't Coming Alone

The 390 Duke has the RC as a more hardcore brother and now, the 390 Adventure too is set to get a more hardcore sibling

The KTM 390 Adventure ushered in a whole new level of fun with that beloved 373.27cc motor at play, but it fell short a little bit as an adventure bike. Guess KTM’s one-size-fits-all approach needed a revisit and so the company did just that. A few months ago we saw a stripped-down next-generation 390 Adventure R and it’s back again, with fairing, panniers and a Enduro-style sibling. Yup, you read that right!

So, here’s what is already known on the upcoming 390 Adventure R - It’s more off-road-focused now. It’s seen running on tall 21-/17-inch wire-spoke rims, and also has WP suspension (most likely adjustable), a new swingarm and subframe. But, most importantly, it gets a new engine - one we’ve seen on the 2023 390 Duke. Even the design is now more big KTM Dakar bike-ish than being a 390 Duke with a Bear Grylls mindset.

What’s new is that the motorcycle is seen draped in panels which look near production-ready. It’s also seen carrying a range of touring accessories from panniers to auxiliary lights. What came as a surprise is that, while we assumed this R version will be the hardcore one, a 390 Enduro with the same hardware but with minimal design was spied on too. So does this mean, while the 390 Adventure R is pretty hardcore, for all the gnarly stuff, there’s now a dedicated variant too?

These models should make their way to India soon, no questions there. Where we expect deviation is hardware. Stuff like – adjustable suspension, tubeless wire-spoked rims and even a 21-inch front may be given a miss.

It could be priced around the Rs 3.90 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. The current KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3,37,043 (ex-showroom Delhi), and we expect the premium courtesy new hardware and inflation. It will rival the upcoming Hero Rally 450 and Himalayan 450.
