Fully adjustable suspension and wire spoke wheels mean that it can take a lot more beating now

If we have to have one gripe with the KTM 390 Adventure, it would be with its lack of off-road cred, a lot of which can be attributed to its alloy wheels. Now, KTM has seemingly solved the issue by launching the spoke wheels and adjustable variant in India. This comes nearly three months after this trim was launched abroad.

What spoke wheels bring to the table is sturdiness and flexibility, meaning they can take a lot more beating in conditions which might crack their rigid alloy wheel counterparts. And if you channel your inner rally rider and do end up bending a spoke, replacing the individual spokes is simple and inexpensive. On the flipside, with these tubed tyres, punctures will always be a nightmare to get repaired.

The ones who are looking for something more hardcore will be delighted too as KTM has given the bike the fully adjustable WP Apex suspension that we’ve seen on the international variant. With rebound and compression adjustability at the front and preload and rebound at the rear, you can actually adjust the bike according to your needs. You have 20 clicks of rebound and 10 steps of preload adjustability at the rear. Along with these things, KTM has also given the bike a new Rally Orange colourway which does look quite nice.

Along with these things, the bike's wheel travel hasn't changed. Even the ground clearance and 855mm seat height have been unchanged. Power ad torque figures too, have remained at 43.5PS and 37Nm.

Other than these things, the 390 ADV hasn't been tinkered with. At Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it's Rs 21,254 more expensive than the standard trim. Given the priceless updates that the bike has gotten, the premium is quite reasonable. The top-spec 390 Adventure hence goes up against the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the Hero XPulse 400. The base variant, on the other hand, still goes up against the likes of the Yezdi Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G 310 GS
