Bajaj Auto Limited has yet to officially announce the launch of the all-new Platina ES but the bike has already been despatched to dealerships across the country.

Available at a price of Rs 51,000 (on-road Delhi), the new Platina ES is claimed to return a jaw-dropping 96.9kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient bike ever in India. Alloy wheels, drum brakes and electric start will come as standard, and so the Platina ‘ES’ moniker. There is no word on any other ‘premium’ variant with disc brakes.

The new Platina ES will be sold alongside the existing Platina and looks largely similar to the current model, apart from a few changes in the headlamp design, new side panels and a brand new exhaust.

What’s totally new is the 102cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with Bajaj’s patented DTSi technology. The engine is said to produce about 8.2PS of power and 8.76Nm torque. Bajaj dealerships are already taking booking amounts for the Platina ES, so we expect a formal announcement of the launch soon.

The Platina ES will compete squarely against the likes of Hero Splendor and TVS Star City Plus.
