Toyota Innova Hycross Spied Getting Comfortable On Indian Roads As Its Debut Gets Closer

The all-new MPV will offer a new strong-hybrid powertrain alongside premium features such as a panoramic sunroof

  • Innova Hycross will be revealed in India on November 25.

  • It will sit alongside the current Innova Crysta in the carmaker’s lineup.

  • Will get driver assistance tech, a first for Toyota in India.

  • Prices expected to start at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Toyota Innova Hycross refuses to shed even a square inch of its camo even as its debut date gets closer. The all-new MPV will be globally revealed in Indonesia later this month, and is set to be unveiled in India on November 25. It’ll join the existing Innova Crysta in Toyota’s lineup, offering a more premium alternative to the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo

What the latest spy pics tell us

Despite the heavy camouflage, it’s possible to discern some of the styling cues and exterior features of the Innova Hycross. It’ll get LED headlights that resemble the Toyota Fortuner’s lights, DRLs on the front bumper and fog lights flanking the air dam at the base of the bumper. A previous teaser has already given us an idea of the Innova Hycross MPV’s front-end styling

At the rear, the Innova Hycross bears a distinctive styling that’s less boxy than the Innova Crysta’s rear end. It has split taillights with LED elements, and the number plate housing is present on the tailgate, as before. Lower down, the rear bumper seems chunkier than before and lends the MPV a more ground-hugging stance.

The spy shots don’t give us a look at the MPV’s interior, but we know that it will be equipped with several new premium features. It’ll get a panoramic sunroof, larger touchscreen, and, going by the new Hyryder, could also get features such as ventilated front seats, a head-up display (HUD) and 360-degree camera.

The Innova Hycross is also expected to be the first Toyota vehicle in India to get the carmaker’s suite of driving assistance and active safety tech. It will get features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and forward-collision prevention.

New strong-hybrid powertrain

The new Innova Hycross will get a new 2-litre petrol engine that will be offered in an ICE-only and a strong-hybrid drivetrain. The non-hybrid is expected to produce 170PS, while the strong hybrid could get excess of 190PS. Both these powertrains are expected to be automatic-only.

The Innova Hycross is expected to be priced from Rs 20 lakh, higher than the existing Innova Crysta that starts at Rs 17.68 lakh onwards (all prices ex-showroom).
