Toyota has announced that it will be setting up a new manufacturing facility in Bidadi on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The Japanese carmaker has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government affirming the same. It’s expected to be completed in 2026. 

Toyota’s new facility, the carmaker’s third in India, is located very close to the other two units in the same location. It will be set up at a cost of around Rs 3,300 crore and will help the carmaker expand its annual production capacity by one lakh units, and even create a new supply chain ecosystem.

It’s still too early to say what models will be built in this new facility, but one car that will roll out of the assembly line is the Toyota Innova Hycross. Since Toyota’s press release states ‘Diversity, Intelligence & Electrification,’ we hope more models are built here including electric vehicles.

The Japanese marque also said this initiative is to build on the carmaker’s 25-year journey in India so far. As for the carmaker’s upcoming products, it will introduce its Maruti Fronx-based crossover by April 2024.
