Expert's Opinion on Triber
- The Triber appears on the more somber side with a very simple design
- Up front you have a conventional headlamp design with a simple DRL light signature placed down low
- Some nice SUV-esque styling bits like the plastic cladding and more boxy proportions leave you guessing if this really is a people mover
- Highlights are projector headlamps, LED turn indicators on the ORVMs which also are power folding.
- The interiors are similarly simple looking with a black and white colour theme
- The fit and finish levels are acceptable at this price point
- The seats are comfortable and there the space on offer is well utilized
- At just under 4-meters in length the Triber isn’t a large MPV but Renault have done a good job with the layout
- The second row has spacious seats and you can accommodate three people here if needed
- By sliding the 2nd row forward a little you can accommodate adults in the 3rd row
- The 3rd row is nicely accessible though because the 2nd row seats fold and tumble out of the way
- With the rear seats folded down or even removed you get a very large boot space
- But three tall adults, sitting one behind the other will not be possible and the 3rd row will only be usable by children
- When all three rows are in use there is just enough space to store a few small backpacks or laptop bags
- 8-inch touch screen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Simple 7-inch digital drivers display
- Manual air con with dedicated vents for the 2nd and 3rd rows
- Air Purifier
- Wireless Charger
- 2-airbags as standard, 4-airbags in the top spec variant
- Rear seatbelt reminder alarm
- TPMS
- Traction control
- Speed sensing auto door locks
- Reverse parking sensors
- 4-star GNCAP safety rating
- The Triber's 1-litre engine sports just 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque
- In the city with a small load the Tribes is acceptable to drive
- The Triber is a pure utilitarian experience, not one to enjoy
- When driving on the highway it feels stressed
- With a full load you will need to plan overtakes
- NVH levels are also on the higher side with road and wind noise making their presence felt at higher speeds
- At slower speeds and in the city the Triber suspension is comfortable and even can take on broken stretches with ease
- The Triber prefers you to slow down over bad roads
- At higher speeds the suspension will bottom out and you will feel bigger bumps and this gets worse when fully loaded
- Sudden lane changes at highway speeds also provoke a far deal of body roll
- If you are on a budget the Triber offers a lot of car in a small footprint
- If you place a high value on space and practicality and the number of seats
- You genuinely need to transport a large family who won’t mind the compromises
- You are safety conscious
Pros and Cons of Triber
- Spacious second row, removable third row seats
- Big 625-litre boot(without 3rd row)
- Comfortable ride quality
- New safety features and BSVI compliant engine at no extra cost
- Highway performance
- Lack of features
Renault’s Triber packs in solid value, offering a lot of car for not much money. It could do with some more features, and a stronger engine for roadtrips but at least we now have an AMT for easier city commuting.
