A possible defect is suspected in the shoulder height adjuster assembly of the front row seatbelts in five Maruti cars

  • Maruti issues recall due to fault in the front seat belt height adjuster assembly.

  • Affected models include Ciaz, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Grand Vitara.

  • Replacement of affected parts will be done free of cost.

  • Units manufactured between November 2 and November 28 are the ones affected.

Maruti has issued a recall of 9,125 cumulative units of the Maruti Ciaz, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Grand Vitara following a suspected flaw in one of the smaller components that make up the shoulder height adjuster assembly of the front seatbelts. In case of failure of the component, the whole seat belt setup might get disassembled, which can be a critical safety hazard.

The affected units of the aforementioned models came off the production line between November 2 and 28 2022. Dealer personnel will get in touch with the respective owners and communicate the issue. The inspection of the vehicle and replacement of the faulty component (if any) will take place at Maruti’s authorised service stations and will be done so free of charge.

The Ciaz, XL6, and Grand Vitara are the NEXA models affected by the recall, while the other remaining models are retailed through Maruti’s Arena outlets. Since the Grand Vitara shares a lot with the Toyota Hyryder, affected units of the Toyota SUV have also been recalled.
