Ahead of its launch later this month teasers on the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno keep on rolling out. The latest teaser showcases a new SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, coupled with an audio system tuned by ARKAMYS .
This new touchscreen infotainment system is a 9-inch floating unit, 2-inches up over the pre facelift model’s 7-inch unit. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice its the same unit present in the next-gen S-Cross from Europe. While details on it are yet to surface, we could expect connected car technology and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Earlier teasers also confirmed a segment-first head-up display (HUD).
As for how the hatchback will look on the outside, earlier teasers and leaked images have revealed a wider front grille, larger LED headlights and split tail lamps
Under the hood, it should be powered by a 90PS 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with idle start-stop, and is likely to be paired with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system. A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard, with a CVT option expected.
Expect the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno to be priced at a premium over the current model that costs between Rs 6.14 lakh and Rs 9.66 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker has begun taking bookings for the hatchback at a token amount of Rs 11,000. It will rekindle its rivalry against the likes of the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
