The new update will provide wireless phone connectivity and upgrades for the navigation and audio systems

  • Maruti Baleno gets turn-by-turn navigation feature in heads-up display (HUD); lower-spec Baleno, Ertiga and XL6 get it in the multi-info display.

  • SmartPlay Pro and Pro+ infotainment system to get a new OTA update.

  • Update will add wireless Android Auto and Arkamys sound tuning to the infotainment system.

  • Owners can install the update using the SmartPlay Pro Sync phone app.

  • Grand Vitara and Brezza SUVs already get these features.

Maruti is rolling out a new OTA (over-the-air) update for the Baleno hatchback and Ertiga and XL6 MPVs’ infotainment systems. This update brings a host of new user-friendly features and connectivity options to the infotainment system. If you own any of the three models, you can download the update using the SmartPlay Pro Sync smartphone app or at authorised Maruti service centres. The update is also available to download from the official Maruti website at this link

Here’s what’s new:

Turn-by-turn navigation feature

The new update adds more functionality to the Baleno’s heads-up display (HUD), which now gets turn-by-turn (TBT) navigation. The TBT navigation is compatible with the stock navigation system as well as Google Maps on Android Auto and Apple Maps on Apple CarPlay.

In the XL6 and Ertiga, which don’t get an HUD, this TBT info will be displayed on the multi-info display (MID) part of the driver’s instrumentation. In the lower variants of the Baleno without the HUD, you still get the TBT navigation feature in the MID, like the MPVs. TBT is compatible with Android Auto’s Google Maps here, too, but it isn’t compatible with Apple Maps.

All three models will also get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Keep in mind that since the update is only for the SmartPlay Pro and Pro+ infotainment systems, the lower-spec models with the older 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen don’t get these upgrades and continue to make do with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Arkamys-tuned audio

Yes! The new update adds a sound upgrade, too, at no cost to the owner. The XL6 and Ertiga get the latest Arkamys Surround Sense audio tuning. This feature was already available on the top-spec Baleno, but now extends to the MPVs as well.

All these upgrades surely do make life that tad easier while driving either of these cars. Earlier, the carmaker had updated the Brezza with all these new features as well.
