During the pre-season Qatar test which concluded recently, Yamaha’s YZR-M1 MotoGP bike was seen flaunting the Indian tricolour. Both, Valentino Rossi as well as Maverick Vinales were running with the Yamaha India’s “The Call Of The Blue” brand logo which includes the national flag in it as well.

This is not alien for Yamaha’s MotoGP outfit to run with a country’s national identity. For instance, you can see Yamaha Indonesia’s ‘Semakin Di Depan’ branding which means ‘One Step Ahead’ on the bike too. And even though they started out small in 2010, today they are one of the team’s biggest sponsors. Similarly, several other Asian countries, like Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines, are helping out the factory team too. It was only a matter of time before India joined in the fray.

While the brand’s Indian arm’s initiative was commendable, we would also like to see them playing a more active role when it comes to Indian motorsports, again. Yamaha used to hold a proper season for its YZF-R15 one-make championship and had a factory racing team in the national road racing series as well as Indian SX championship. Hopefully, the call of the blue answers the call for betterment of Indian motorsports.
