Yamaha FZ X

The Yamaha FZ-X is a 150cc neo-retro bike from the Japanese manufacturer that is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 12.4PS and 13.3Nm. Check out how it fares against the new Kawasaki W175 Street. Yamaha also announced new colour schemes for the FZ-X.

Yamaha FZ X Key Highlights

Price: The bike is available in five distinctive colours, at varying prices. The Matte Titan and Dark Matte Blue variants are priced at Rs 1,37,200, and the Matte Copper and Metallic Black variants costs Rs 1,36,200. The newly launched Chrome variant costs Rs 1,39,700 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

Design: Yamaha FZ-X has quite the retro look with its round headlight, muscular tear-drop fuel tank, simple side panels, and a chunky exhaust. The fuel tank also gets matte black extensions flowing neatly in a sculpted tuck-and-roll seat with simple pillion grab handle. It also gets a metal engine cowl and features golden alloy wheels with fork gaiters.

Features: The FZ-X comes with a negative LCD instrument console that provides information like speed, tachometer, tripmeter, odometer, fuel level, clock, Eco prompt, TCS (Traction Control System) alert along with other telltale lights above the display. The console also shows smartphone notifications, phone battery level and call alerts through the Yamaha Y-Connect app via Bluetooth. The bike is now compatible with E20 fuel (20 percent ethanol and 80 percent petrol, aiding in reducing emissions) and features TCS (Traction Control System) to avoid tyre slippage.

Engine: Yamaha FZ-X is powered by a single-cylinder, 149cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine which produces 12.4PS and 13.3Nm. The engine is linked to a five-speed gearbox and the bike comes with traction control for added safety. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic front-fork and a seven-step preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is looked after by a 282mm front disc and 220mm rear disc, with single-channel ABS as standard. The bike rolls on 17 inch alloy wheels which are wrapped in 100-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres. The bike has a 10 litre fuel tank and weighs 139kg (kerb). It has a 810mm tall seat and ground clearance of 165mm.

Rivals: The closest competitors of the Yamaha FZ-X are the Kawasaki W175 and the Keeway SR125.

Variants: The bike comes in three paint schemes with all getting similar specs. The Matte Black and Matte Copper variants get black alloy wheels with the latter getting colour-coded rim stickers. The golden alloy wheels are only available in the Dark Matte Blue model, justifying added cost.
