Ducati Takes The Wraps Off Its Special Edition Panigale V2

The bike is a tribute to Australian rider Troy Bayliss, celebrating the first of his three World SBK titles

  • The Bayliss 20th Anniversary edition gets cosmetic and mechanical updates over the standard bike
  • Will be produced in limited numbers.
  • It’s 3kg lighter than the standard model.
  • To commemorate Troy Bayliss’s marbles, Ducati has launched the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary. The eponymous Ducati Panigale V2 will be produced in a numbered series, featuring cosmetic and a few mechanical upgrades over the standard model.

The bike is draped in a special Ducati Red with white and green accents. You’ll find Bayliss’s number ‘21’ on the front, on the cladding, and even embroidered on the seat. Not just that, the fuel tank also has Troy’s signature with his championship-winning years (2001, 2006, and 2008) embossed right above it. In case you weren’t aware, Troy Bayliss is the only motorcycle racer in history to have won the MotoGP and World Superbike in the same season (2006).

All units will have their serial numbers etched on the triple clamp with the bike’s name above.

The Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary uses a 955cc Superquadro v-twin belting out 157PS and 104Nm, the same as the standard model. Even the braking setup and electronics package have remained unaltered.

The suspension setup, however, has been upgraded. The Showa and Sachs suspension have made way for an Ohlins NX30 fork with a TTX36 rear shock. Also, this special edition is 3kg lighter than the standard bike, courtesy of the lithium-ion battery and the single-seat setup.

That’s not all; Ducati has even given the bike sports grips, a titanium and carbon fibre outlet cover on the exhaust, and a red stitched seat with Troy’s number as mentioned above. The bike is also equipped with self-cleaning brake and clutch pumps with smoked grey oil tanks.

In Europe, the Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary is priced at EUR 20,990 (roughly Rs 18.04 lakh). That’s about Rs 55,000 more than the standard bike which retails at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). We think it’s a small premium to pay for a rather special bike.

While there’s no official word on it, we won’t be surprised if Ducati decides to bring a few units to India.
