Ducati DesertX Latest Updates
Ducati India has launched the more off-road capable variant of the DesertX, called the DesertX Rally, but it comes at a hefty premium of Rs 5,37,600 over the standard variant.
Ducati DesertX Key Highlights
Price: The DesertX is available in two variants: base and Rally. The DesertX base variant is 18,33,200 and the DesertX Rally variant is available at Rs 23,70,800 (both ex-showroom).
Features: The DesertX is equipped with a 5-inch vertically mounted TFT console, it also comes loaded with a suite of electronic aids, including multi-level ABS, traction control, and wheelie control, engine braking control and a bi-directional quickshifter. It gets four power modes: Full, High, Medium, and Low, along with six riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro, and Rally.
Engine: The Ducati DesertX is powered by a 937cc, L-Twin, liquid-cooled mill producing 111PS and 92Nm, paired to a six-speed gearbox. This engine is also seen in the Multistrada V2, Hypermotard 950, Supersport 950 and the Monster.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The base variant gets a steel trellis chassis suspended on a fully adjustable 46mm Kayaba fork and monoshock. The Rally variant gets a 48mm KYB fork with 250mm suspension travel and a rear monoshock with 240mm travel, both fully adjustable and 20mm more travel at both ends as compared to the standard. Braking hardware consists of twin 320mm front discs and a 265mm rear disc. The Ducati DesertX has 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, with Takasago Excel wire-spoked wheels on the rally variant. It comes with 90-section front and 150-section rear Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres as standard with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres available as an option. The base variant has a kerb weight of 210kg and a ground clearance of 250mm, whereas the Rally is 1kg heavier at 211kg and has a ground clearance of 280mm (30mm more).
Rivals: The Ducati DesertX base variant rivals the likes of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro and the BMW F 850 GS. Whereas the Rally variant competes against the BMW R 1250 GS Pro and Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 Special.
