The new-gen Endeavour, with these premium features, offers a much better cabin experience than the Toyota Fortuner

The new-gen Ford Endeavour, called the ‘Everest’ internationally, has recently been spotted undisguised in India. Even though there is no certainty about the launch, the hope for a Ford comeback is very much alive as Ford might bring the Endy in fully imported units.

The new-gen Endeavour comes packed with plenty of features that its India rival, the Toyota Fortuner, misses out on. The extra features of the Endy over the Fortuner will surely be welcomed by the feature-loving Indian audience.

Let’s take a deep dive and learn more about the features that the Endy gets over the Fortuner

Panoramic Sunroof

A sunroof is surely one of the most loved features on an Indian car buyer’s list, more so when it's a panoramic unit. The Ford Endeavour comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, meanwhile the Fortuner doesn't even get a regular single-pane sunroof.

ADAS

In recent times, ADAS has become a common safety feature in Indian cars. The Endy gets a full suite of ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and reverse braking assist, which the Fortuner misses out on.

Electric Parking Brake

A feature of convenience, the Endeavour gets an electric parking brake, which frees up space in the lower centre console. The Fortuner, meanwhile, gets a regular manual handbrake.

12.4-inch Digital Driver Display

A standout feature of the new-gen Endeavour is the 12.4-inch all-digital driver display that has multiple view options for the driver, while the Fortuner gets an analogue instrument cluster with a multi-info display.

A Bigger 12-inch Touchscreen

A bigger 12-inch touchscreen display in a portrait orientation is offered for the top-end variant of the Endy with wireless Android auto and Apple Carplay. Meanwhile, the Fortuner gets the smaller 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in India.

360-degree Camera

The Endy gets a 360-degree camera, which is a much-needed feature making parking and maneuvering through tight spots a lot easier, especially considering it’s a massive SUV. The Fortuner gets a reverse parking camera with parking sensors.

Drive Modes

The Endy offers drive modes and off-road modes for you to choose from. The drive modes include Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. The Fortuner on the other hand, gets eco, normal and sport mode. So yes, in the Endy, you get both the road and off-road drive modes.

Powered 3rd Row Seats

The Endeavour gets powered third-row seats, a convenient and useful feature if you intend to fold down the last row to open up boot space. In the Fortuner, on the other hand, you have to fold down the third row manually.

Heated Seats

Yes, both these robust SUVs do get ventilated seats, but the Endeavour extends the seat comfort with the addition of heated seats over the Fortuner. That said, this feature is not required in most parts of India, but useful if you live in a cold place.

Heated Steering

The Endy also features a heated steering, a common feature in the International car market. To be fair to the Fortuner, heated steering is not something that the Indian buyer would desire to have but can be a welcome feature in some parts of the country.

A point to note is that the Toyota Fortuner is yet to get a generation update, unlike the Endeavour. So when Toyota brings the updated model down the road, one can expect the Japanese carmaker to plonk most of the features the new Endeavour gets over it.

The new-gen Endeavour, if launched on our shores, will surely create an audience for itself, but the main question will remain its pricing. It could cost around Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from the Fortuner, the Endeavour will lock horns with the MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
