Bajaj has taken the wraps off its 2023 Chetak electric scooter, which is now available in a refreshed colour palette, along with few other upgrades. Here’s a quick look at what’s new.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The 2023 iteration of the Bajaj Chetak is now priced at Rs 1,51,910 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The company has stated that it has restructured its manufacturing to reduce the price of this electric scooter. Bookings are currently open and deliveries will commence in April.
The older Chetak which is currently on sale is available at Rs 1,21,933 (ex-Bengaluru). The Bajaj Chetak will continue to take on the heavyweights in the premium e-scooter segment like Ola S1, TVS iQube S, Ather 450X and Hero Vida V1.
What’s New?
Gone are the Brooklyn Black, Hazel Nut, Indigo Metallic and Velluto Rosso colourways, as the 2023 iteration brings with it three new shades, namely Matte Coarse Grey, Matte Caribbean Blue and Satin Black.
Additionally, the Chetak now gets a coloured LCD console, dual-tone seat and body-coloured rear view mirrors. The grabrail, pillion footrest and lighting accents have now been blacked out too.
Underneath the bodywork is the same drivetrain and battery pack. Bajaj says the ARAI-certified range is 108km, whereas the company claims that the real-world range is 90km.
What Should Have Changed?
The Bajaj Chetak does feel like a premium offering with keyless entry and metallic body; however, it lacks the performance to give its main rivals a run for their money. We wished the 2023 iteration of the Chetak was launched with a more powerful motor, at least, for a performance boost and not to mention, improved range.

The Bajaj Chetak has been in production since late-2019, and the electric segment has since seen rapid developments; however, the pace of Chetak’s evolution has never been anywhere as fast. Considering the premium price tag it commands, the Chetak needs to be spiced up in terms of features, range and performance to help justify the premium.
