Ather Rizta Launch On April 6: From Expected Price To Range Here's Everything You Should Know

Before the Ather’s new family scooter launches, here’s what we know and when we got to know about the Rizta

(Update: Ather Energy has launched the all-new Ather Rizta family scooter. Check out the details in our launch story here.)

Ather Rizta Side Profile

The Ather Rizta will be launched in a few day’s time and the excitement for its arrival is quite high. Here’s a timeline of how we got to know about the scooter in the first place to how we uncovered all the details we know about the scooter so far:

Spy Shots and Confirmation Of A New Family Scooter

The Rizta was first spotted testing in the month of November, 2023, from where we got to know about its boxy styling and the apron mounted headlight. Shortly after that, the EV maker’s CEO, Tarun Mehta, confirmed that Ather Energy is working on a new family-oriented scooter. As we reached towards the end of January 2024, the scooter was spotted once again, this time around with luggage and a pillion. This gave us a glimpse into the large seat and floorboard area of the Rizta.

Teasers and Confirmation Of The Launch Date

The first teaser of the Rizta showcased its fairly large and wide seat, a further indication of its family-oriented approach. In the next teaser, we got a much clearer view of the fully-digital instrument console, turn indicators and the large floorboard area. And in a social media post just more than a week after that, Ather Energy confirmed that the Ather Community Day will be held on April 6 and that the Rizta will be launched on that day. Few other features were revealed soon after when Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain (co-founder) confirmed that the scooter will get a big underseat storage space, a USB charging port and a smart accessory.

Durability Teasers and Pre-Bookings Announced

To showcase the durability of the scooter as a family-oriented model, the EV maker drop-tested its battery from a height of about 40 feet (equivalent to a four-storey building) and shared a teaser of the scooter moving through 400mm (about 1.3 feet) of water. The manufacturer has also announced that it will also be rolling out a new Atherstack 6 OTA update and launching the new Halo smart helmet on April 6. Pre-bookings for the electric scooter started a couple of days after that for a nominal amount of Rs 999. And lastly, we got to get the clearest look yet at the scooter’s underseat storage space and noticed some new details as well in the latest teaser.

The Ather Rizta will likely get the same 2.9kWh capacity battery pack, 115km claimed range and 5.4kW peak power output motor as that of the Ather 450S. It is expected to be priced around the Rs 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom including EMPS, which stands for Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024) mark and its rivals will be the TVS iQube, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Ola S1 Air and Bajaj Chetak.
