The Baleno will be getting a major overhaul, keeping it up with the times with new features and design
Maruti Suzuki will be announcing the prices of the facelifted Baleno on February 23. Pre-launch bookings are underway, and the facelifted hatch will be sold in six trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O) (New), Alpha, and Alpha (O) (New). By now, if you have been hooked to our page, you must be knowing the amount of exclusive our car team brought to the table earlier.
So, without further ado, here are five key points you need to know:
Exterior Design
Maruti has made the grille a size larger, while the headlamps are a wee bit sleeker than before, lending the fascia a bolder look. Even the bumpers have been stylised to look sporty. In profile, the mildly revised 16-inch alloys are the only change. Last but not least, the tail lamps are now split units to impart a premium look, while the reflectors on the bumpers have been moved up.
Interior Design
It’s on the inside where things have changed drastically, courtesy of the new dashboard design. The main highlight in this new black/blue dual-tone dash is the new 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. If you’re a Maruti fanboy, you’ll notice that the steering wheel has been lifted from the Dzire.
New Features
The Baleno gets a host of new features: a head-up display, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, an Arkamys tuned sound system, connected car tech with Alexa support, electronic stability control, and six airbags.
Other notable features that will be present is automatic climate control, cruise control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry with push button start, and auto-LED headlamps
Engine
The Baleno will get just the 90PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and optional 5-speed AMT. There won’t be a CVT or mild-hybrid this time around. And in terms of fuel efficiency, the Baleno MT delivers 22.35kmpl, while the AMT returns 22.94km to the litre.
Price And Rivals
Prices of the facelifted Baleno are expected to start from Rs 6.5 lakh, putting it in contention with the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and the upcoming facelifted Toyota Glanza.
