The i7 is essentially the 7 Series’ electric equivalent, and it’s getting ready for a 2022 global premiere
The all-electric BMW i7 has been teased for the first time while testing in sub-zero temperatures in Arjeplog, Sweden. The upcoming luxury sedan, the 7 Series’ electric equivalent, is expected to break cover sometime in 2022.
The i7 will share its drivetrains and battery pack with the soon-to-be-launched flagship iX SUV. For reference, the iX is available in two trims: xDrive 40 and xDrive 50 (dual motors with both). The all-electric SUV has a WLTP-claimed range of up to 630km.

BMW says the electric sedan will share its steering and braking systems, driving dynamics, suspension components, and vehicle stability systems with the next-gen 7 Series. So we expect it to be a fun drive. The carmaker has stated that these parameters will be tuned specifically to ensure a difference in each driving mode.
It’s also safe to say that the i7, being BMW’s flagship electric sedan, will feature the carmaker’s latest tech, including its i-Drive 8 infotainment system and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The BMW i7 will square off against the Tesla Model S, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and the upcoming all-electric iteration of the Audi A8. Expect it to come to India, considering BMW’s planning to bring more EVs to our market.
