3D images of the upcoming SUV have been leaked ahead of its global debut, which will be in early-April
- Hyundai Alcazar is a longer Creta with three rows of seating.
- It boasts a different grille, larger alloy wheels and a restyled rear-end.
- Interior is similar to the Creta, except for the black-brown colour scheme.
- Likely to be offered with 1.5-litre diesel and 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engines.
- It could be priced a lakh over the Creta.
The Creta-based Alcazar 7-seater SUV will be the next big launch from Hyundai. The Korean carmaker recently gave us a sneak peek of the upcoming SUV via a few design sketches. Now, 3D images of the Alcazar have been leaked, giving us a good look at the upcoming bigger Creta with an extra third-row of seats. Here’s what the leaked 3D model images suggest and what all is expected from the Hyundai Alcazar:
-
When viewed head-on, the basic design is similar to the Creta, albeit with minor differences like the chrome studded grille.
- The shiny stuff from the grille extends to the DRLs and headlamps.
-
The bumper also features redesigned fog lamps and a silver skid plates for distinction.
-
The extended length and the longer rear overhang is quite apparent.
-
What’s also new is the rear quarter glass for last row occupants.
- As per the image, side steps have been provided for easier ingress and egress
-
It also seems to sit on larger 18-inch wheels for a better stance.
-
Like the Creta, a sharp character line flows from the headlamp to the tail lamps.
-
The Alcazar’s boasts an upright rear-end to make room for third row occupants, similar to what Tata did with the Harrier-based Safari.
-
It features conventional looking split-LED tail lamps that are connected by a thick chrome strip with ‘Alcazar’ written on it.
-
The rear bumper features twin exhaust pipes that are similar to the Creta’s Turbo variants. But a closer look reveals rear fog lamps in place of the reverse lamps found in the Creta.
-
The Alcazar’s dashboard layout is identical to the Creta, albeit in a black-brown colour scheme as per the sketches.
-
Seen in the image above is the six-seater variant with captain seats and an unique floor mounted central console for middle row occupants.
-
A 7-seater variant with bench seats will also be on offer.
- The Alcazar should retain most of the features from the Creta such as a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated seats.
- It could also pack additional features like a powered tailgate, and a 360-degree camera.
-
Since it’s based on the Creta, it should come with the 115PS 1.5-litre diesel and 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engines.
-
The diesel engine will be offered with a 6-speed torque converter while the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol will be provided with the 7-speed DCT.
-
Like the Creta, only the diesel engine should be provided with a 6-speed manual transmission.
-
Considering its premium positioning, the 115PS 1.5-litre petrol engine could be given a miss.
The Hyundai Alcazar, which could command a lakh premium over the Creta, is likely to go on sale by the end of April. It could be one of the most affordable three-row SUVs in the sub Rs 20 lakh bracket, which consists of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio.
