Triumph’s Updated Baby Bonnies To Go On Sale Tomorrow

More power and subtle design changes could see prices bumped up by Rs 50,000

  • Max power now rated at 65PS, 10PS more than before.
  • Gets two rider modes: Rain and Road.
  • Four more products to follow in 2019.
  • Triumph Street Twin Street Scrambler

Triumph will begin the launch of its 2019 products with the new Street Twin as well as the new Street Scrambler. There are six products slated for launch in India in 2019, with these two sparking off the launch spree. Both motorcycles are meant to represent entry points into their respective genres.

Even though there are design changes to make them feel more premium, Triumph hadn't fiddled around with the overall shape and styling of both motorcycles. The Street Twin continues to be the baby modern roadster while the Street Scrambler retains its rugged characteristics. However, bridge metal finishes and few new items here and there have elevated both motorcycle's appeal.

Nestled in the double downtube frame is the same 900cc parallel-twin High Torque motor as before. However, the motor sees quite a lot of revision with the internals as well as overall tuning and now makes 65PS of power, 10 more than the old bikes. Even though it produces the same 80Nm as before, the peak torque is made slightly higher in the rev range with a wider powerband.

Both motorcycles will likely receive a hike of Rs 50,000 over their outgoing models and that pushes the price of the Street Twin to Rs 8.2 lakh. The Street Scrambler will be breaking into the Rs 9 lakh bracket with these revisions (ex-showroom India).
