Q. What to choose, Triumph Trident 660 or Triumph Tiger Sport 660?

Stay tuned for further updates. Follow the link to get an alert when Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is launched. On the other hand, the Trident delivers better on the sort of performance you’d expect from a “big bike” and this, in our books, makes it better value-for-money. The premium is well justified for the thrills you experience, courtesy of the 660cc triple engine. It handles well, and like a patient teacher, builds you up nicely for larger capacity motorcycles that you’d most likely upgrade to after a few years. 2024 Trident 660 Key Highlights

Price: Triumph Trident 660 is priced at Rs. 8.12 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). It is offered in only one variant - STD.

Design: Triumph has tried to strike the right balance of classic curvy lines with contemporary design. The circular LED headlamp, curvy tank, large knee recesses and roundel info cluster have a retro sense to them. But the overall look is quite like a ’90 European naked. The short stubby tail is rather wide and welcoming. The LED tail-light is neatly integrated into the tail with the rear turn indicators mounted on the tyre hugger.

Features: Triumph has managed to pack quite a lot of features here. LED lighting all around was a given but there is the signature Triumph touch to them. The round console is a full digital unit with the top LCD portion displaying info such as speed, revs, fuel level and the current gear selected. The bottom half is a colour TFT panel allowing you to control the electronic aids as well as introduce smartphone connectivity for which you need to buy a separate module.

Engine: Powering the Trident is a similar version of the 660cc triple motor that you find on the Euro-spec Street Triple S. It has quite a lot of different internal parts that are dedicated to make the motor feel a lot more accessible. 81PS at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 5,000rpm is produced here, making it one of the leaders in terms of performance in this segment. A six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch comes in as standard and one can fit a bi-directional quickshifter from the Triumph’s accessory catalogue. It is leading the pack in terms of electronic aids on offer. Two rider modes with their individual throttle maps, traction control settings and ABS intervention levels are standard. The mechanicals on the Trident are simple and cost effective compared to the Street Triple models. The USD fork is non-adjustable while the monoshock only has preload adjustability, both units sourced from Showa. No Italian radial braking hardware here. Instead, Nissin twin-piston floating calipers act on two 310mm discs at the front while the rear gets a 255mm disc with a Nissin single-piston caliper. The lightweight 17-inch alloy wheels come shod with grippy Michelin Road 5 tyres.

Rivals: The Triumph Trident locks horns with the Kawasaki Z650 and the Honda CB650R.
