Triumph Tiger 900 Bike Latest Updates

Triumph has launched the Tiger 900 at a premium of Rs 30,700 over its predecessor. The three variants -- GT, Rally and Rally Pro -- are priced at Rs 13.70 lakh, Rs 14.35 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom India). Head here for more details on the new bike.

Triumph Tiger 900 Engine

Triumph has upped the displacement on its middleweight Tiger with the inline three-cylinder engine now displacing 888cc. Max power remains the same at 95PS like the old motor but torque has seen a sizeable bump up to 87Nm, which is 8Nm more. It also gets a new firing order, producing a bassier and raspy sound. There are minor changes to the transmission but it remains a six-speed unit with a slip-and-assist clutch. There are plenty of electronic aids on the Tiger 900. The traction control and ABS intervention levels are aided by a six-axis IMU developed in conjunction with Continental. The regular Tiger 900 GT and Rally trims get four rider modes each (Rain, Road, Sport & Off-road). The Tiger 900 Rally Pro offers Rider and Off-road Pro mode (where all rider aids are switched off). The Pro models get a bi-directional quickshifter as standard while it is an optional fitment on the other two. Electronic cruise control is standard. On the GT model of the Tiger 900, the 45mm Marzocchi USD fork gets manual rebound and compression adjustability. It also gets manual preload and rebound adjustability on the Marzocchi monoshock unit. The GT Pro allows the user to change these settings electronically. You get 19-/17-inch alloy wheels and road-biased rubber. On the off-road oriented Tiger 900 Rally and Rally Pro models, suspension hardware is provided by Showa. The units on Rally variants have more travel with the 45mm USD fork now fully adjustable. For the first time, the middleweight Tiger also gets 21-/17-inch sidewall-laced spoke rims that are shod with Bridgestone Battlax Adventure rubber. On all variants of the Triumph Tiger 900, you get the same braking components. The front wheel gets two 320mm rotors, each acted upon by Brembo Stylema calipers. At the rear, you find a 255mm disc with a Brembo single-piston sliding caliper.

Triumph Tiger 900 Design

The Triumph Tiger 900 has undergone a serious makeover. Derived from the Tiger Tramontana that Triumph rallied on in the 2018 Pan-Africa rally, the new Tiger 900 bears sleek LED headlights, small beak and slimmer body panels. Underneath the skin though, there is a larger 20-litre fuel tank.

Key Features of Triumph Tiger 900

All lighting systems are LED lit. The Rally and GT variants get a new 7-inch colour TFT screen. The My Triumph connectivity module comes as standard on the Rally Pro trim while it is an optional accessory on the other two. Each one of these trims also gets heated grips, underseat mobile phone storage compartment and USB charger. Heated seats (with separate pillion control) and TPMS is a standard fitment on the Rally Pro model.

Triumph Tiger 900 Competitors

The Triumph Tiger 900 will go up against the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 950 and the Honda Africa Twin 1100, the former still to be updated to BS6.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Tiger 900

Q. What is the saddle height of Tiger 900?
  • The saddle height of the Triumph Tiger 900 is 850-870 mm.
Q. How much is waiting period in Pune?
  • For the availability and waiting period, we would suggest you please connect with the nearest authorized dealer in your city as it depends on their stock book. Follow the link and select your desired city for details.
Q. Can I go on long drive on this bike, also where are the service center?
  • The new Tiger might be fractionally quicker off the line but the wider torque-band really gives it an edge in the city. It pulls away from speeds as low as 45kmph in fifth gear without much agitation. You do not need to downshift as often as you would’ve earlier to make those swift overtaking moves. The engine is more than happy to sit at 120kmph on the highway, with more than enough poke left to just zoom by anything in your path. This added usability has come at the cost of frugality: this new 888cc engine sips a lot more fuel in both the city and on the highway. Thanks to a slightly larger fuel tank though, the overall range shouldn’t be affected all that much. Authentic triple lovers might find the raspy tune of the new 1-3-2 coarse and unwelcoming. However, this new exhaust and engine note makes the riding experience feel quite sporty. It starts up angrily and continues to be quite expressive as you gather pace. Another area where the Tiger 900 has taken a giant leap forward is in the electronics department. Both traction control and ABS are now aided by a six-axis IMU from Continental. We rarely found the traction control kicking in within city limits. You get four riding modes on the Rally variant: Rain, Road, Sport and Off-road. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details. On the other hand, follow the link for the authorized service center in your respective city.
More Questions
Q. My height is 5.8inch is it possible to Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro ?
  • Probably yes. because ppl with a height of 5.10 barely flat foot. Ppl with 5.8 can go for shoes adding an inch n they can go vroom!!!!
Q. My height is 5.4 is it possible to ride with Triumph Tiger 900
  • I am 5.10 and I have a Rally pro. With Forma low boots that have an inch of added sole height ... I barely flat foot the bike. Even if you go for the GT or the Low version or let's say you go for the seat lowering kit it will be high for someone of 5.4 height. Yes of course you can ride the bike at that height as well but know that every time you have to make a stop in the traffic or when you have to waddle over an off-road section you will feel it.
  • GT low is a variant available outside India, a low seat will only bring it down by 20 mm
  • There's Tiger GT Low, seat height of 760-780 mm
